**Education & Qualifications, Required**:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
**Skills & Experience, Required**:
- 5+ years of industry experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years experience in an integration environment
- Excellent understanding of controls, industrial automation, and mechatronic processes
- Experience with commissioning, start-ups, and troubleshooting of industrial automation projects
- Working knowledge in object-based programming.
- Working knowledge of CAD software.
- Working knowledge in ABB RobotStudio and ABB RAPID, or other robot programming language
**Nice to Have, but can be learned on the job**:
- Knowledge of software development (C# or Python)
- Working knowledge of BIM software.
- Experience with computational architectural design processes.
- Experience with digital manufacturing processes.
**The Role & Responsibilities**:
- Lead automation efforts, ensuring the success of the company’s research and implementation of new types of automation for prefabricated mass-timber housing.
- Lead or assist with the design, sourcing, and implementation of new robotic systems, as well as the setting up of equipment for operational expansion and R&D purposes.
- Design and develop software systems for controlling robotic systems.
- Debug, test and troubleshoot software programs, as necessary.
- Optimize software performance to improve robotic system functionality.
- Use Autodesk Inventor to create designs and manage parts/assemblies.
- Implement robotic control code generation.
- Write and test code in a variety of programming languages to ensure performance and quality standards are met.
- Integrate new and existing software into new and existing machinery.
- Perform software upgrades and custom programming as assigned.
- Perform system testing and troubleshooting to ensure the automation systems operate efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in the development of software processes for design-to-manufacturing workflows.
- Collaborate with engineers, operators, and production team to identify automation opportunities and develop solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including software code, system design and operation manuals.
- Participate in the install and commissioning process of automation cells.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in robotics automation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce waste.
- Comply with all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Comply with our administrative policies and procedures as set forth from time to time.
- Contribute to team efforts.
- Complete other duties as we may request which are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.

**Safety Requirements**:
- When on the production floor or construction site, wear protective equipment, such as a hard hat, hearing protection, safety work boots, and safety glasses.
