**JOB SUMMARY**

Reporting to the QA Manager, the QA Supervisor will be responsible for leading the Quality Assurance department at the plant, taking ownership of developing the food safety program, ensuring documentation is in place and in collaboration with Plant Leadership, be responsible for training plant employees and ensuring food safety processes are followed in accordance with internal and external regulatory requirements. Additionally, the incumbent will perform day-to-day plant inspections, prepare for, and lead internal and external audits, including SQF and customer audits, and work with Plant Leadership to recommend corrective actions for all nonconformances.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Perform incoming inspection and sampling (as needed) of incoming raw materials and packaging materials.
- Provide instruction and direction to the third party cleaners.
- Maintain approved supplier documentation.
- Maintain Kosher, Organic and Non-GMO documentation on ingredients and update the website.
- Monitor storage areas to ensure that ingredients are in the correct storage location.
- Reinforcement of good manufacturing practices throughout the plant.
- Conduct Pre, In Process Post Operation inspections, implement immediate corrective action as required and assist in follow-up investigations pertaining to non-compliance issues as needed.
- Conduct daily online process checks throughout the facility to ensure compliance to specification of in-process and finished product.
- Continuously assesses the results of inspection findings and react in a timely manner to communicate potential problems to Production and QA Manager.
- Ensure the metal detector verification is being conducted as per the written procedure is detecting. Inspect metal detector rejects and identify root cause.
- Ensure check weigh system is working and weights are within specification.
- Verify the correct labels and packaging are being used for each product.
- Take appropriate actions for noncompliance of ingredients, packaging materials and finished products or when any product fails to meet the required specifications.
- Participates in scheduled Internal audits, GMP, Sanitation and other food safety audits throughout the production departments. Follow-up on nonconformance issues with the appropriate department.
- Document all QA activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Conduct verification of the proper functioning of testing equipment such as thermometers and scales.
- Prepare reports/summaries and communicates results to QA Manager and others as necessary.
- Implement Hold procedures for suspect product and or product evaluations and testing.
- Collect and submits samples for laboratory analysis.
- Assist with the development and delivery of Quality / Food Safety Training for manufacturing and support teams.
- Assist with investigations of consumer/customer complaints.
- Provide support during third party audits.
- Participate in plant trials and first production runs.
- Other related duties and responsibilities assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology or related fields.
- 3 - 5 year’s Supervisory experience in a food processing environment.
- Previous experience with BRC or SQF and HACCP.
- Experience working with GMP best practices.
- Detail oriented, accuracy and prioritizing responsibilities
- Competency using Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Analytical and Problem Solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Syspro and/or any other ERP system is considered
