Under the general direction of the Civil Maintenance Foreman, the Civil Maintenance Labourer is responsible for the various outdoor duties and assignments, such as grass cutting and general landscape/facility work in the water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities. These facilities include, but are not limited to, the Shoal Lake Intake Facility, the Greater Winnipeg Water District Railway (GWWD), the Winnipeg Drinking Water Treatment Plant, the Deacon Reservoirs, the Deacon Booster Pumping Station & Chemical Feed Facility, and in-town booster and regional pumping stations.

**As the**_Civil Maintenance Labourer_**_ _**you will**:

- Perform Outdoor Property Maintenance.
- Assist the Civil Maintenance Group in preventative and general maintenance.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Grade 8 or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience working with property maintenance tools (lawnmowers, leaf blowers, weed trimmer).
- Experience using hand and power equipment.
- Must be capable of following both verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts (including suppliers), contractors and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
- Knowledge and understanding of the occupational hazards, safety precautions, regulations, and procedures that are applicable to the position’s area of work.

**Conditions of employment**:

- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- A Police Information Check satisfactory to the employer will be required from the successful applicant, at their expense.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.

Must be physically capable of performing all of the duties and responsibilities of the position including, but not limited to, lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive movement, crouching, kneeling, standing, climbing stairs, working at heights or in confined spaces, both indoors and outside in varying weather conditions.
