Position Overview
The Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA) is a non-profit umbrella organization representing agencies that provide resettlement, settlement, and integration services to newcomers in the province of Alberta. Since 1980, we have been working to build the sector’s capacity to better serve newcomers by fostering collaboration, professionalization, and member-driven research and policy work.
The Manager plays a vital role within AAISA’s Management Team, operating in a cross-functional and collaborative environment. This position is responsible for the successful development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programs. The Manager will be responsible for a program's operational success ensuring seamless team management, initiative and project delivery, quality control, and evaluation.
The Manager works collaboratively to design, develop, action, and assess strategies that will enact the vision of the organization in alignment with AAISA’s strategic and business plans. As a key external representative of AAISA, this position manages multiple staff members while maintaining crucial stakeholder relationships.
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the Management Team to implement projects and initiatives aligned with AAISA’s Strategic Plan.
- Provide strategic direction for research, evaluation, policy, communications, and business development.
- Identify sector-wide priorities in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish critical partnerships with stakeholders, including the private and public sectors to address the needs of the programs.
- Guide and support professional development for direct reports.
- Enable and encourage cross-departmental collaboration within AAISA.
Performance Management & Quality Assurance
- Oversee the planning and evaluation of programs and initiatives.
- Ensure team deliverables align with funder requirements and AAISA’s strategic outcomes.
- Develop goals and strategies to support team performance and accountability.
- Contribute to the development of consistent performance standards and tools.
Research & Evaluation Oversight
- Guide the Policy & Evaluation team in delivering research and evaluation projects.
- Provide high-level oversight of research design, data collection methods, and analysis.
- Ensure timely progress and strategic alignment of all research initiatives.
- Support the development of outcomes measurement frameworks and impact strategies.
- Review and refine recommendations to inform organizational decision-making.
Policy Development & Knowledge Mobilization
- Oversee development of policy briefs, sector reports, and strategic materials.
- Ensure alignment of outputs with organizational priorities and sector trends.
- Support delivery of knowledge mobilization activities (e.g., focus groups, consultations, presentations).
- Ensure messaging is evidence-based and reflects community needs.
Communications, Business Development & Outreach
- Oversee communications strategies (e.g., newsletter, social media, website) to reflect sector insights and organizational goals.
- Provide strategic leadership on AAISA’s membership engagement, including outreach and retention.
- Ensure effective administrative support for the board and organizational operations.
- Guide the planning and execution of organizational events, including conferences and sector convenings.
- Represent AAISA in relevant sector meetings and forums.
- Ensure alignment between internal operations and external communications.
Collaboration & Technical Contributions
- Ensure research, policy, and outreach outputs support cross-organizational initiatives and program development.
- Provide strategic input into funding proposals and reports.
- Maintain oversight of accurate documentation and data systems.
- Support planning and execution of organizational events such as conferences and convenings.
Additional Organizational Responsibilities
- Support AAISA’s Leadership Team on special projects and emerging priorities.
- Maintain up-to-date stakeholder and evaluation records.
- Deliver internal and external presentations showcasing AAISA’s research and policy work.
- Travel within Alberta as needed to support stakeholder engagement.
