**Director of Wellness - Empire Retirement Residence - North Bay, Ontario**

**About the Role**

As our **Director of Wellness**, you will provide strong leadership and clinical expertise to a caring and committed team. You’ll champion a culture that values respect, empathy, and individualized support—ensuring our residents experience the best possible quality of life.

You’ll lead, mentor, and empower your team to provide care that aligns with each resident’s unique needs, while promoting collaboration and excellence across all aspects of the wellness department.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and support Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to deliver resident-centered care that promotes dignity, wellness, and independence.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, and external care partners to ensure open communication and quality service.
- Oversee resident assessments, admissions, and care planning processes, ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Respond promptly and professionally to resident or family concerns, taking appropriate action or escalating as needed.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain clear communication within the wellness team and across departments.
- Support the orientation, education, and professional development of nursing staff, including facilitating mandatory and ongoing training.
- Provide hands-on clinical support when required, including medication administration and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in accordance with company policies, legislative requirements, and best practices.

**Qualifications**
- Current registration and in good standing with the **College of Nurses of Ontario (RPN minimum)**.
- Solid understanding of **CNO practice standards and professional guidelines**, with a commitment to staying current as regulations evolve.
- Minimum **three years of leadership or management experience** in a **retirement or long-term care setting**, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Proven **leadership, communication, and team-building skills**, with a passion for supporting staff development and resident wellness.
- Genuine **empathy and respect for older adults**, including those living with physical or cognitive challenges.
- **Valid First Aid and CPR certification** (current and in good standing).
- Familiarity with the **Retirement Homes Act, 2010** and the role of the **Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA)**.
- Working knowledge of relevant provincial legislation, including the **Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Residential Tenancies Act**, and other related regulations affecting the retirement sector.
