**About Us**:
Kichton Contracting is seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our team. Kichton Contracting Ltd (KCL) has been in business since 1963 and is based out of Acheson, Alberta, Canada. KCL is classified as a medium-sized civil earthworks contractor. Our work ranges from residential earthworks, commercial site development, to industrial projects. Our services include grading design for all types of new commercial and industrial sites along with retrofitting existing sites to accommodate new site development.
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- Conduct construction surveys using GNSS (GPS), electronic total stations, and other conventional survey instruments.
- Support the crew chief in executing surveys for building layouts, grading projects, and site as-builts.
- Facilitate the organization and storage of survey data in designated digital repositories.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and adhere to standard operating procedures.
- Ensure safe usage and handling of all survey tools and equipment.
- Oversee maintenance and care of company vehicles and issued survey gear.
- Undertake additional tasks as required in similar or related roles.
- Independently manage and execute various field survey activities, or assist as needed, leveraging GNSS technology.
- Regularly inspect, operate, and maintain all survey equipment and vehicles to ensure optimal functioning.
- Ensure seamless communication and information transfer from field activities to office settings.
- Comply with all quality assurance and control protocols.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
**Qualifications and Competencies**:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
- Strong technical and mathematical capabilities, and the physical fitness required to perform labor-intensive tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Availability for flexible work schedules, including weekends as needed.
- Requirement to wear safety footwear and appropriate protective clothing at all times.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Valid CSTS2020 certification (free online course offered through ACSA)
- No prior experience is necessary for this role.
- Experience in construction or a post-secondary degree in Geomatics will be considered a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with GNSS technology is preferred.
**Work Schedule**:
- Monday to Friday with Saturdays as needed during busy season
- 8-10 hour shift per day
- Overtime if required
