The Bell Person provides a warm welcome to our guests. The position is responsible for welcoming all guests, carrying bags and other parcels and providing information to guests about the facilities and services of the hotel. The Bell person contributes to the success of the resort by performing the following duties:
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Greets guests in a friendly manner and assists with luggage.
- Follows check-in and check-out procedures as developed by the Front Office Manager.
- Escorts guests to their rooms, deliver baggage and inspects the room and its equipment.
- Demonstrates facilities and equipment in the rooms.
- Explains the use of elevators, pool keys, hours of outlet operation, etc.
- Familiarizes the guests with hotel services and facilities and answers any questions about the village and surrounding area.
- Assists the guests at departure, checking baggage into check room if not required until later.
- Ensures guests have transportation to their next destination.
- Maintains cleanliness of lobby area, including ashtrays, telephone areas, brochure rack and front entrance. Picks up newspaper and garbage on tables, floors or landings.
- Organizes tours for guests and secures rental cars when Guest Relations is absent.
- Keeps lobby function board up to date and stays aware of daily events.
- Handles guest complaints proactively courteously and demonstrates unselfish empowerment.
- Reports any unusual circumstances to the manager on duty.
- Packages mail-out brochure requests.
- Picks up and delivers guest laundry on request.
- Provides valet parking services.
- Assists with bike, sports equipment, tennis court and game rental in the absence of Guest Relations associates.
- Performs door person’s duties.
- Some stress resulting from daily guest interactions (internal and external), budgetary, and time constraints.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED**:
- Grade 12 education.
- Minimum 1 years experience in guest service (preferably in a resort/hotel environment).
- Minimum Class 5 driver’s license.
- Proven ability to communicate in fluent English with guests, coworkers and other visitors to the hotel.
- Proven ability to write and read instructions, brochures, manuals and to communicate the information to others.
- Proven ability to solve a variety of problems quickly and efficiently.
- Must provide a clean driver’s abstract and provide updated abstracts as required.
- Able to safely lift, pull, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must know how to drive a standard and an automatic vehicle.
- Computer experience is an asset.
- Superior communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the surrounding areas and familiarity with Vancouver and the greater Vancouver area.
- Being multi-lingual is an asset.
- Flexible to a changing schedule.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From $17.85 per hour

**Experience**:
- Hotel or Resort Front Desk: 1 year (preferred)
- Customer Service: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Drivers License (minimum) (required)
- Canadian Work Permit or legal right to work in Canada (required)
