Job Summary:
Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for picking, packing, and shipping orders for customers in the Distribution Center by efficiently handling the flow of merchandise throughout the distribution center in an accurate, productive and safe manner.
Job Level: Entry Level
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Order picking per pick ticket requirements. Maintain accuracy, cleanliness, 5S practice, and maintain pick rate requirements.
- Utilize RF scanners to accurately pick orders from shelving, racking, bins, and other areas as necessary.
- Read orders for picking information, special instructions, product location and quantity accurately.
- Read orders for packing information, special instructions and pack accordingly.
- Prepare, match and verify shipping information and manifest accurately.
- Adhere to customer requirements including shipping guidelines and the preparation of shipping information and manifest.
- Cycle counting and inventory control.
- Adhere to strict Shimano’s 5S Principles.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
- Ability to work and multitask in a fast paced warehouse environment with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints is required
- Ability to use shipping software, automation equipment and perform task in accordance with Shimano’s standard operating procedures and customer guidelines.
- Computer skills - experience with Microsoft Office Products - Outlook, Word, Excel and AS400 knowledge.
- Repetitively lift up to 50lbs
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and do basic mathematics.
- Excellent attention to detail.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
**Environment**:
- Approximately 95% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning.
- The temperature of the work environment, when in the office, is moderate.
- The temperature of the work environment in the warehouse may be equal to the outside temperatures of the area.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
**Physical Demands**:
- Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers; and lift (up to 50 lbs.)
- Occasionally bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl, kneel
