**Program Manager - Child and Youth**

The Program Manager for Child and Youth will provide program area expertise, leadership and support to the Health, Fitness and Aquatics (HFA) Leadership Team, in Child & Youth programs (CY) and Day Camping. They will monitor/evaluate the program experience, ensuring consistency and quality in programs/services across all four HFA Centers. The Child and Youth Program Manager will oversee hiring, onboarding, programming, policy and service delivery for YMCA CY and Day Camp programs and services. CY supervisors at each HFA centre will report into this position; both direct and indirect influence and leadership will be required.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Acts as a program area expert for Child and Youth programs and Day Camp to provide operational support to the product area as well as strategic oversite in response to trends, emerging best practice, member or participant feedback or HFA strategic directions.
- Regularly visit HFA Centres to monitor and evaluate the CY program area to ensure standards are met, consistency in program delivery, compliance with HFA strategy implementation and to monitor health/safety and risk. Assist with problem solving and decision making to ensure consistency, quality, and safety. Responds with urgency to address quality or services issues.
- Leads and manages signature CY programs including Day Camp, Childminding, Recreational Sports, Leaders in Training and Teen Night across the association to ensuring high quality and safe engaging programs and alignment/consistency between branches and regions.
- Plans, pilots, evaluates and scales new and renewed programs.
- Takes a member focused approach to child and family programs and services. Develops and maintains programs and schedules to ensure “something for everyone” during identified peak hours of operation. Ensures child and family programs provide opportunities for relationship building and development.
- Supports the YMCA of Northern Alberta regions to ensure consistency. This will include regular contact with the staff and travel to the regions as required.
- Provides guidance regarding Child Youth Programs philanthropic initiatives; understands and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism and imparts this knowledge and belief upon staff, volunteers, and member.

**What You’ll Need for This Job**
- Degree in Education, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, or similar field in combination with experience.
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers.
- Current certifications in NCCP, High 5, YMCA HCD or PYD, is an asset.
- Previous experience working with children and leading staff teams.
- Certifications: Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C.
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends
- Able to travel to different centres within Edmonton
