**OVERVIEW**:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The **Maintenance Technician** is responsible for the overall upkeep and repair of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment used in the production facility. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position ensures that all machinery operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to meet production goals. The role encompasses routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and the installation and calibration of new equipment. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, maximizing equipment reliability, and ensuring the facility's compliance with safety and operational standards.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**1. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE & EMERGENCY REPAIRS **_(Weighting 45%)_
- **PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE**_
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies to ensure the continued operation of all production machinery. This involves using historical data, equipment manuals, and manufacturer guidelines to schedule maintenance activities in advance.
- Conduct regular mechanical and electrical inspections on equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, and production lines. These inspections include checking for abnormal vibrations, unusual sounds, wear on parts, and ensuring proper lubrication of moving components.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing worn parts, cleaning filters, and recalibrating sensors, to avoid unexpected breakdowns.
- Use diagnostic tools, such as infrared thermography and vibration analysis, to predict future failures before they occur. This helps in adjusting maintenance schedules based on the real-time condition of the equipment.
- Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to schedule, track, and document maintenance tasks. Ensure all actions are recorded to build a history of the equipment's performance and maintenance needs
- **EMERGENCY REPAIRS**_
- Respond to emergency breakdowns swiftly to minimize production downtime. This involves diagnosing problems quickly and taking immediate action to restore equipment functionality.
- Use specialized diagnostic tools and schematics to pinpoint the root cause of failures in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.
- Perform repairs such as replacing defective motors, adjusting sensors, or fixing electrical connections to return machinery to service as quickly as possible.
- Communicate effectively with production staff during breakdowns to update them on repair status and work together to find alternative solutions if needed.
- Ensure critical spare parts are stocked and tools are readily available to address common breakdowns efficiently, reducing machine downtime.
**2. EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION & MACHINE CALIBRATION **_(Weighting 35%)_

- Assist in the installation of new machinery or production lines, ensuring equipment is set up to meet manufacturer specifications and operational requirements.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for the precise assembly and installation of new machinery.
- Ensure the seamless integration of new equipment with existing systems, verifying electrical, mechanical, and control connections to ensure proper operation.
- After installation, test the machinery to ensure it functions properly, calibrating components as needed to meet performance standards.
- Work with equipment suppliers and external contractors to coordinate the delivery, setup, and testing of new or upgraded machinery.
- **MACHINE CALIBRATION **_
- Calibrate mechanical and electrical systems, such as servo motors, sensors, conveyors, and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems, to ensure accuracy and proper operation.
- Regularly assess machinery performance to determine if recalibrations or adjustments are required, based on production output and quality metrics.
- Adjust machinery settings to accommodate varying production demands, such as different material types, thicknesses, or product specifications.
- Document all calibration activities, noting adjustments made and the resulting performance changes, to track the effectiveness of interventions.
**3. TECHNICAL SUPPORT & TROUBLESHOOTING **_(Weighting 10%)_
- Serve as an in-house expert for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems. Assist production teams and other technicians in resolving difficult technical issues.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and vibration analyzers to identify and resolve problems with machinery and control systems.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians and production staff to improve their understanding of maintenance processes, troubleshooting methods, and safe operation of equipment.
