The Manufacturing Supervisor manages and plans the overall activities in Shawflex’ production facility. This position is closely involved with continuous improvement for existing manufacturing processes in collaboration with Process Engineering. Being an active member of the Operations leadership team, the manufacturing supervisor maintains high performance standards through on-the-floor interaction with plant employees to achieve operational excellence in HSE, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. **The Manufacturing Supervisor oversees all Shawflex Shift Supervisors and is responsible for managing the entire Shawflex production team.**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**OPERATIONS, QUALITY & ENGINEERING**
- Supervise & coordinate all production areas at Rexdale/Vaughan facility.
- Closely gage morale amongst employees and take time to celebrate successes with the team.
- Engage team in Continuous Improvement to maintain and improve machine efficiency and labour utilization.
- Develop and implement plans to drive Continuous Improvements: NCR & complaints reduction, HSE risk reduction, utilization and efficiency improvements, line speed increases/cycle time reductions, scrap reduction, material and L&OH variance reduction, unplanned downtime, maintenance costs, energy savings, consumable costs.
- Regular work centre and plant DMP creation and attendance.
- Fulfil leader standard work (LSW) responsibilities and ensure direct Supervisor team is completing their LSW
- Work collaboratively with Supply Chain Planning & Scheduling to build operating schedules to meet production & maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accuracy of production reporting system.
- Build & implement KanBan procedures to ensure production supplies, tooling, and consumables are ordered and delivered as required.
- Provide training to employees to comply with CSA N299, NQA-1 and ISO requirements, improve themselves and develop workforce flexibility.
- Ensure CSA N299, NQA-1 and ISO procedures are followed, and quality standards are maintained and improved.
- Improve size change and out-of-spec production to control consumption of materials and reduce scrap.
- Collaboratively engage Process Engineering and maintenance to assess manufacturing equipment in the design phase and inspect new machines before they are commissioned.
- Actively engage your team to participate in projects to deliver continuous improvement in materials, machines, processes, and other improvements.

**EMPLOYEE RELATIONS**
- Ensure Mattr HR policies and Company values are applied fairly and consistently.
- Conduct regular meetings with Employees, Team Supervisors & operating team.
- Monitor overtime, absenteeism, and time accounts of staff; supervise annual vacation planning.
- Create an atmosphere which ensures employees concerns/ideas are heard, prioritized, and addressed.
- Participate in employee communication meetings and ensure issues raised are addressed.
- Appraise performances of direct and indirect reports, support and develop leadership skills and behaviour of supervisors.
- Identify and develop talents.
- Promptly and fairly address performance, or behavior not meeting standards.
- Maintain constructive professional relationships with other departments.

**HSE**
- Support the corporate HSE Management system and IIF vision.
- Provide day-to-day implementation support and supervision of the HSE system.
- Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are maintained and improved.
- Provide risk assessment for machines and equipment.
- Support the upcoming implementation of a Health Management System.

**QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or College Diploma in Operations Management
- APICS Certificate in Production and Inventory Management
- 7-10 years Supervisory Experience within a manufacturing plant
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and rally a team of 100+ employees
- Knowledge of World Class manufacturing techniques such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, JIT, Lean, TQM, KanBan, COQ, ERP, etc.
- Knowledge in PM and Maintenance Systems.
- Skills/abilities/competencies:

- Ability to follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
- Ability to pick out minor and large flaws when inspecting products.
- Ability to instruct employees in the proper and safe use of all hand power tools, material handling, equipment, and machinery proficiently.
