**Position Overview**:
The Box & Trailer Repair Technician is responsible for performing repairs, installations, and modifications on commercial dry van bodies, reefer units, and various types of trailers. This includes structural repairs, tailgate systems, body work, fiberglass restoration, and custom fabrication. The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, welding skills, and attention to detail to ensure all work meets industry standards and customer expectations.
**Core Responsibilities**:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair damage to commercial truck bodies and trailers, including dry vans, reefer units, and Unicell bodies.
- Repair and replace roofs, side panels, rear frames, flooring, and internal components.
- Perform repairs on trailer walls, doors, undercarriages, and frames including steel and aluminum welding or structural bonding.
**Tailgate Repairs & Installations**
- Install hydraulic and electric liftgate systems on trucks and trailers.
- Ensure all tailgate work complies with safety and operational standards.
**Body Work & Fiberglass Repairs**
- Conduct fiberglass repairs on molded Unicell bodies and composite trailer panels.
- Perform sanding, filling, sealing, and refinishing as needed for cosmetic and structural restoration.
**Roof & Panel Replacement**
- Remove and replace damaged or leaking box and trailer roofs with proper sealing techniques.
- Replace side and front panels using riveted, bonded, or welded methods depending on construction.
**Fabrication & Modifications**
- Weld and fabricate metal components for repairs and custom installations on both trucks and trailers.
- Install or modify scuff liners, floors, E-tracks, logistics posts, and bulkheads.
**Trailer-Specific Work**
- Conduct repairs on suspension components, landing gear, crossmembers, and electrical/lighting systems.
- Perform structural reinforcement for trailers as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- **Technical Expertise**: Proficiency in medium and heavy-duty truck box repairs, including welding, and panel replacement
- **Experience**: Demonstrated experience in box repair for commercial vehicles, with a focus on medium and heavy-duty trucks.
- **Welding Skills**: Considered an asset, including MIG and TIG welding, with the ability to work with various metals.
- **Attention to Detail**: Keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, visually appealing repairs.
- **Problem-Solving**: Ability to diagnose issues, assess damages, and determine appropriate repair strategies.
- **Communication**: Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and customers.
- **Physical Stamina**: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- **Safety Awareness**: Strong understanding of safety protocols and practices in a workshop environment.
- **Certifications**: Relevant certifications in welding, collision repair, or automotive technology are advantageous.

Pay: Up to $35.00 per hour
