**Position Summary**:
The Behavioral Support Worker plays a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with behavioural challenges. This position involves working closely with individuals, families, and other professionals to promote positive behaviour, improve personal skills, and enhance the overall quality of life for individuals with behavioural needs. The Behavioral Support Worker will utilize a person-centred approach, implementing strategies and interventions to help individuals achieve their goals and maximize their independence.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Direct Support:

- Assist and Teach Skills: Help individuals develop daily living skills, social interactions, and emotional regulation techniques.
- Promote Adaptive Behaviors: Encourage the development of coping strategies and adaptive behaviors.
- Foster Inclusivity: Create a positive environment that supports independence and self-advocacy.

2. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams:

- Effective Communication: Collaborate with team members, families, social workers, and school systems to provide cohesive support.
- Insightful Contributions: Attend house meetings to share valuable insights for comprehensive support plans.
- Progress Updates: Regularly update colleagues on the progress and challenges faced by individuals.

3. Documentation and Monitoring:

- Accurate Records: Maintain detailed records of interventions, observations, goals, and progress reports as per company policy.
- Evaluate Effectiveness: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of support strategies, making necessary adjustments.
- Data Collection: Collect data to identify outcomes and areas for improvement.

4. Crisis Intervention:

- Safety Protocols: Implement crisis intervention techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals.
- Challenging Behaviors: Follow established protocols for managing challenging behaviors effectively.
- Proactive Care: Utilize the CHS proactive model of care for each youth.

5. Advocacy and Community Involvement:

- Individual Advocacy: Advocate for the rights, needs, and interests of individuals.
- Community Integration: Facilitate the integration and participation of individuals in the community.
- Resource Connection: Connect individuals and families with appropriate resources and services.

6. Residential Manual:

- Company Standards: Familiarize with and adhere to company standards of practice.
- Policy Updates: Stay informed on changes in policy and practice communicated by Human Resources or Residential Program leaders.

7. Attendance:

- Shift Accountability: Adhere to shift times and sick policy.
- Staff Meetings: Participate in monthly staff meetings to enhance understanding and skills.
- House Meetings: Engage in regular house meetings to address youth and house needs.

8. House Responsibilities:

- Daily Operations: Oversee daily operations including meal preparation, cleaning, and yard maintenance.
- Shift Requirements: Understand and fulfill the care requirements for each shift.
- Routine Adherence: Follow routines established by supervisors, including transporting youth to various activities.

9. Quality of Care:

- Youth Development: Prioritize the emotional and psychological development of youth.
- Program Utilization: Implement programs to improve psychological capacities.
- Family Connection: Facilitate family connections to support the reunification model.
- Medication Administration: Administer medication with professional and ethical standards.

10. First Aid Administration:

- CPR and First Aid: Possess level C CPR and first aid training.
- Medical Attention: Provide immediate medical attention for injuries or illnesses.

11. Health and Safety:

- Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain cleanliness and ensure safety within the house.
- Safe Spaces: Create safe environments for all members to prevent incidents.

Qualifications:

- Education: Relevant qualifications in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience in behavioral support or a similar role.
- Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and crisis management skills.
- Certifications: CPR and first aid certification.

Working Conditions:

- Environment: Residential and community settings.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
