**Responsibilities**:

- Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions;
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results;
- Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements;
- Coordinating activities of external auditors;
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process;
- Supporting the budget process;
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes;
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems;
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed;
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
- Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance; and
- Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff.

**Requirements**:

- Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation;
- Minimum 7 years’ of relevant experience in managing accounting functions in $100M+ company including sizable intercompany operations;
- Strong leadership, people management skills and ability to motivate
- Experience in transportation or else fast moving /high transactions volume industry is a significant asset;
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
- Working experience with QuickBooks (knowledge of any large ERP systems is a plus);
- Solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills;
- Can to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism;
- Able to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of discretion;
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; and
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
