**Job Summary**
Podium Machine Works is looking for a skilled **CNC Lathe Machinist** to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC turning centers to produce high-quality, precision-machined components. Your expertise in CNC lathe operations will help drive production efficiency and maintain our high standards for quality.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Set up CNC turning centers, including loading tools, setting offsets, installing fixtures, and preparing workpieces according to specifications and engineering drawings.
- Load raw materials and monitor machining operations to ensure proper tool paths, spindle speeds, and feed rates are maintained throughout production.
- Set up and operate robotic loaders and other automation systems to optimize machine uptime (training provided as needed).
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks on CNC lathes to reduce downtime and ensure machine reliability.
- Troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear, surface finish irregularities, or programming errors, and make necessary adjustments.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and process documentation.
- Continuously monitor processes and recommend improvements to cycle time, quality, and overall productivity.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with shop safety policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating and setting up CNC lathes/turning centers.
- Strong understanding of G-code, tool offsets, and machining principles for turning operations.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Skilled in identifying tooling issues, material inconsistencies, and other production challenges.
- Proficient in using precision measurement tools (tools provided).
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with shop safety standards and machining best practices.
