**What you’ll do**

The Certification Program Office (CPO) at Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited (CTC) is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a process to facilitate Disclosure Controls and Procedures (DC&P) and Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) for the Enterprise.

Reporting to the Vice President, Financial Policy and External Reporting, you will provide support to enable CTC and CT Real Estate Investment Trust (CT REIT) in the development and management of the certification program to address requirements related to National Instrument (NI) 52-109 regulatory compliance.

The incumbent manages the annual scoping, oversees the quarterly Management’s self-assessment processes, executes and reviews internal control testing results, assesses deficiencies, coordinates with Management, Internal Audit and the External Auditors and prepares quarterly reports to the various governance committees.
- Methodology (5%):

- Lead the development and maintenance of standards and methodologies aligned with published guidelines for CEO/CFO Certification and Continuous Disclosure Obligations.
- Annual Internal Control Scoping (10%):

- Performs the annual Materiality Assessment required for Financial Statement scoping and control deficiency analysis.
- Performs the annual Location scoping exercise to determine which business units (BU) are significant and in-scope for assessment and testing of controls.
- Performs the annual Financial Statement by Element Risk Assessment exercise for all BUs to determine significant accounts, transaction cycles or major classes of transactions, key business processes and controls in-scope for assessment and testing.
- Quarterly and Annual CEO/CFO Certification (30%):

- Manages the quarterly disclosure control questionnaire and Management’s Self-Assessment processes in support of NI 52-109 regulatory compliance.
- Manages the process for identifying material changes.
- Manages the process for assessing control deficiencies.
- Maintains the certification tool.
- Annual Internal Control Testing (30%):

- Manages the development of the annual test plan based on the Financial Statement scoping results.
- Performs complex testing and reviews staff control testing work papers.
- Monitor control testing performed by staff.
- Coordinates with Internal Audit and Information Technology.
- Obtains an understanding of the connection of robotic process automation and CAATs with control testing.
- Incorporates appropriately End-user computing, Information Technology General Controls, and Automated Controls into testing strategy.
- Supervise team (15%):

- Manage and mentor a team of four people.
- External Financial Statement Audit Coordination (5%):

- Liaise with the External Auditors for all external audit requirements.
- Training and Development (5%):
**What you bring**
- University degree in Accounting.
- Must have obtained an Accounting (CA, CPA) designation. Audit designation (CISA; CIA) would be an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of NI 52-109, SOX (Section 404/302), COSO 2013, GAAS, COBIT, IFRS and OSFI regulations.
- 10+ years of internal controls/CEO/CFO Certification experience.
- 10+ years of related work experience. Preference for internal and/or external audit/risk/compliance or Finance/Accounting. Experience in public accounting or retail/distribution/banking/real estate industries are considered an asset.
- Able to data mine and recommend alternative approaches to testing based on past experience ad new technology.
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, problem solving, and data analysis skills.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Able to multi-task and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Able to work independently and as a part of group.
- Able to work with individuals at all levels of an organization.
