Meat Department Manager

As the Meat Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the meat department, including inventory management, staff supervision, customer service, and ensuring the highest quality and safety standards for our meat products. You will play a crucial role in driving sales, maintaining profitability, and delivering an exceptional shopping experience for our customers.
**Responsibilities**:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the meat department, including ordering, receiving, pricing, and stocking of meat products.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of meat products.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to optimize product availability while minimizing waste.
- Train, supervise, and motivate a team of meat department staff members, including scheduling, performance management, and training.
- Collaborate with the upper management team to develop and implement effective sales strategies, promotions, and displays to drive meat department sales and profitability.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their inquiries, providing product recommendations, and addressing any concerns or complaints.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat department, including display cases, work areas, and storage areas.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, product knowledge, and market changes related to the meat department.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales, inventory, and other operational metrics.
**Qualifications**:
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with staff, customers, and the management team.
- Strong knowledge of meat products, including different cuts, grades, and preparation methods.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively train, motivate, and develop a team.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated understanding of health and safety regulations pertaining to the handling and storage of meat products.
- Proficiency in inventory management, ordering systems, and point-of-sale software.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
- Able to bend, squat and lift above waist and shoulders
- Ability to lift up to approximately 23kg/50lbs.
- Able to work in a cold environment
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably as a Meat Department Manager or Assistant Manager in a grocery store setting
- Wage: Dependent on experience and qualifications._
