Toronto, Canada Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Full time

Provides leadership to support the organization in delivery of high quality data, enabling accurate reporting to preserve and enhance the value of WSIB business-information assets.

Designs, develops, implements and evolves the data governance and data quality strategy and policy, including framework and roadmap to build organizational capabilities in the provision of high quality, governed data as the WSIB transitions to a cloud first organization.

Establishes data quality standards and manages data quality monitoring and validation activities.

Manages and facilitates the development and operation of the data governance structure to ensure data assets are formally managed throughout the enterprise.

**Major Responsibilities**:
1. **General Management**

Plans, manages and controls the activities of the unit which includes annual planning of projects and priorities, identifying resource requirements, allocating work, recruiting, establishing performance objectives, conducting performance reviews, and providing guidance and feedback to staff. This includes:

- Providing technical expertise and direction to staff when required
- Identifying and addressing blockers, inefficiencies and other issues to effective service delivery
- Participating as a member of the Branch’s management team in the development of branch goals/objectives in support of the divisional and corporate strategic direction

2. **Data Governance**
- Manages and facilitates the development and operation of the data governance structure by ensuring adherence to overall data governance framework and master data management while monitoring the quality, structure and management of data and information within the organization
- Lead the required compliance activities and processes with the launch of the government Open Data Initiatives
- Acts as a change agent to foster a data governance culture of managing data/ information as key enterprise assets and consequently optimizing business results across the enterprise; Promote data integration and enterprise data warehousing principles

3. **Information Quality Management**
- Leads data quality assessment efforts and data quality monitoring and validation activities for continuous improvement including
- Establishing data quality standards and performance metrics
- Developing data quality monitors, processes, and controls
- Leading the system analysis for data quality risk
- Facilitating root-cause analysis of quality issues, identifying, resolving and communicating data quality issues impacting business analytics
- Maintains and further establishes a data quality program with the development of a data quality framework and manage processes and practices related to data quality to ensure data accuracy, viability and value. This relates to all data utilized by CBIA, primarily residing in the Enterprise Information Warehouse (EIW), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Operational Data Store (ODS) and may also include source data e.g. MACS/ACES/GuideWire
- Based on regular cost benefit analysis and evaluation, partners with data governance owners to define strategies and tactics to drive continuous improvement of data systems

4. **Support IM Strategy**
- Contributes to and supports the overall design and implementation of IM strategy from the data quality perspectives
- Fosters a data quality culture, strengthens data quality infrastructure and capacity, and cultivates the data supply chain
- Anticipates and resolves emerging or contentious strategic and operational data quality issues that impact the information management strategy
- Contributes to the development of data management strategies, policies and best practices
- Acts as a change agent to optimize business results across the organization
- Provides leadership to ensure appropriate data quality policies, standards, procedures and controls are established
- Provides consultation and support through participation in key initiatives/committees to ensure adoption and compliance of data quality principles
- the design and execution of data quality initiatives, guidelines and standards
- the importance, benefits and impact of a sound data quality to information management

5. **Relationship Management**
- Develops and maintains effective communication/linkages and working relationships internally with business partners (e.g. ITC, Reference Data Management, Information Management & Governance and ACES teams) to identify ongoing and changing needs, to ensure programs, services and work processes are aligned with enterprise-wide data quality processes and practices
- Promotes, influences change and gains support/buy in for data quality initiatives
- Engages business partners to discuss and resolve issues, and exchanges information of mutual concern

6. **Issue and Risk Management**
- Identifies and assesses emerging or contentious operational issues related to IM projects, their potential risks and impacts on the Branch’s and divisional strategic m
