**Role Summary**
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Cultivation Lead (≈70%)**_
- Plan, execute, and document crop cycles (nursery, veg/field, flowering, harvest, drying/curing)
- Manage environmental controls (HVAC, irrigation/fertigation, VPD, lighting), media/nutrient programs, and water quality monitoring.
- Lead Integrated Pest Management (scouting, thresholds, biologicals/low-risk interventions) and sanitation of rooms/equipment.
- Supervise and mentor cultivation technicians; enforce safety and standards across facilities.
- **Breeding & R&D Support (≈30%)**_
- Assist with controlled pollinations, feminization (e.g., STS/colloidal silver), isolation/block design, and seed increase.
- Support polyploidization and stabilization workflows; track pedigrees, phenotypes, and segregation.
- Execute phenotyping runs (morphology, growth rate, cannabinoid profiles), collect/composite samples, and coordinate HPLC/third-party testing.
- Maintain genetic inventory (seed/clone libraries), viability checks, and storage best practices.
- Contribute to data capture, analysis, and concise reporting for internal reviews and publications.
**Educational Requirements**
- Bachelor’s in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Cannabis Cultivation or related field is an asset but not required; a college diploma with strong experience will be considered.
- Graduate work in plant breeding/genetics is a strong asset but not required.
**Skills & Qualifications**
- 3+ years in commercial cannabis/hemp or high-value horticulture (greenhouse/field), including team leadership.
- Proven experience of cultivation environments (HVAC/VPD), irrigation/fertigation, IPM, and post-harvest handling.
- Working knowledge of plant breeding basics (crossing schemes, feminization, isolation, phenotyping) and data integrity.
- Comfortable with quality systems (GACP/GAP), SOPs, sampling/traceability.
- Competent with spreadsheets/LIMS and clear technical writing for logs and reports.
- Physically able to lift 25-30 kg, work on ladders/in the field, and tolerate seasonal conditions; valid driver’s license.
- Experience with polyploidization workflows, flow cytometry coordination, and cannabinoid analytics (HPLC sample prep/interpretation) is an asset
