Fleet Maintenance Coordinator

Based at our Saskatoon plant location, we are searching for our next Fleet Maintenance Coordinator. This role is responsible for oversight of the plant maintenance program with a specific focus on the Fleet Maintenance Department to ensure a productive workforce with mínimal downtime. The Fleet Maintenance Coordinator will also delegate, provide leadership, training and mentorship to Heavy Duty Mechanics and Apprentices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fleet Maintenance Planning
- Oversee routine maintenance program ensuring fleet equipment is kept in a safe and orderly working condition
- Plan the repair and maintenance work schedule for Heavy Duty Mechanics, Mechanic Apprentices and Truck Shop Welders
- Supervise the work of fleet maintenance staff, including inspection of completed repairs to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Develop, implement and administer a routine and preventative fleet maintenance program with the aid of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Maintain detailed fleet equipment records to indicate repair work and overhauls completed
- Perform Key Focus Analysis for fleet equipment with high usage costs or frequent breakdowns
- Submit purchasing requisitions for spare/replacement fleet parts and equipment into JD Edwards
- Establish a spare parts inventory in conjunction with the Purchasing Department and outside vendors to ensure maintenance can be effectively carried out
- Secures outside resources or contractors as needed for special projects or repairs outside the scope or capabilities of the WCRL Saskatoon fleet maintenance staff

Supervisory & Human Resources
- Manage payroll time-keeping records for fleet maintenance employees including shift changes and work orders within the payroll software system
- Recruit, hire and train the necessary personnel to staff the fleet maintenance department to the forecast level of operation
- Conduct monthly Tool Box Meetings to ensure open channels of communication between management and fleet maintenance staff
- People development and active management of fleet maintenance staff in conjunction with Maintenance Superintendent
- Train new and existing Heavy Duty Mechanics, Mechanic Apprentices and Journeyman Welders
- Provide leadership to fleet maintenance staff to maintain productivity while limiting and resolving conflicts

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial fleet vehicle maintenance planning role, or similar environment or industry
- Class 1 driver’s license is an asset
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Heavy Duty Technician Certificate or an interprovincial Red Seal Certification in an equivalent trade an asset
- Relevant post-secondary education at an accredited institution an asset
- Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Maintenance Planning Software, and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems required
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal, with strong communication skills
- Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
