Abbotsford Precision Sheet Metal Company, Overlanders Manufacturing, has an immediate opening for a NC Press Brake Operator on our Day Shift.

Overlanders is looking for an experienced operator with good mechanical and mathematical skills with 2+ years’ experience. Overlanders is looking for a team player with great attendance and attention to detail and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

A Press Brake Operator in the sheet metal manufacturing industry is responsible for operating and controlling press brake machines to bend and shape sheet metal into various forms and sizes according to specifications. This role plays a crucial part in the fabrication process and requires technical expertise and precision.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Operating Machinery: You will be responsible for operating a press brake machine, which is used to bend and shape sheet metal according to specific designs and measurements. This includes selecting tooling and adjusting the machine for each job.
- Bending Operations: You will operate the press brake machine to bend the sheet metal according to the required angles and dimensions. This may involve multiple bends, gauging the material for accuracy, and adjusting the machine as needed.
- Reading Blueprints and Work Orders: You will need to interpret engineering blueprints and work orders to understand the required dimensions, angles, and tolerances for bending the sheet metal.
- Machine Set-up: Before starting the bending process, you will set up the press brake machine by installing the appropriate tooling, adjusting the back gauge, and ensuring that all safety measures are in place.
- Programming: Machines are computer-controlled and may require programming. In such cases, you may need to input the specifications and parameters into the machine's control panel or software.
- Quality Control: Throughout the bending process, you will perform regular inspections to ensure that the bent parts meet the specified requirements. This involves using measuring instruments like calipers, protractors, and height gauges. Ensure the part is correct to the best of your ability before handing over to QC for approval.
- Troubleshooting: If any issues arise during the bending process, such as material misalignment or machine malfunctions, you will troubleshoot the problem and make adjustments or seek assistance from Brake Coordinator or Supervisor.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensuring a safe work environment is crucial. You will adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow company policies and regulations.
- Time Management: You will need to manage your time effectively to ensure that you complete bending operations within the designated cycle times. This may include organizing your workflow, prioritizing tasks, and optimizing machine setup and operation.
- Use appropriate handling equipment: Utilize suitable handling equipment based on the size, weight, and nature of the material or product being moved. This can include forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, or carts.

**Employment Details**:

- Day Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6am to 4:30pm
- Starting Wage: Dependent on experience & skill set
- You must be reliable, pleasant and can be trained
- Ability to follow English written and spoken directions
