The Yard Foreman provides leadership in scheduling, coordinating, supervising and ensuring the compliance, productivity and safety of the yard crew and all other personnel, clients, and contractors within the compounds of Tomlinson Industrial Waste.

**Job Location**: 5555 Power Road, Ottawa, ON.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- SAFETY_
- Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Act) and safety policies and procedures outlined in the company policy.
- Participating in CORTM Program by meeting all requirements.
- Conducting daily tailgate meetings, daily inspections.
- Conducting Safety meetings along with other management.
- Being aware of the site’s Contingency Plan as well as the Design and Operations Manual.
- Completing incident and other safety reports in a timely manner.
- Ensuring safety accountability and utilize our infraction procedures when required.
- Overseeing and correcting any safety violations by contractors on site. Reporting to Management if unsuccessful.
- Reviewing and completing documentation (Job Hazard Analysis/Safe Job Procedure/Safe Work Practice/Site Specific Hazard Assessment) for tasks performed.
- Other Safety tasks as required.
- LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION_
- Ensuring new crewmembers are oriented on each job they perform.
- Conducting and/or assisting with training sessions as well as One-on-One coaching as required.
- Ensuring crewmembers are completing assigned tasks as per the site’s ECA and D&O Report.
- Communicating the expectations of the task to crew.
- Setting and maintaining work standards and outlining behavioural expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity.
- Promoting, supporting and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all members of the crew by bringing and fostering a positive teamwork attitude and by maintaining cohesion.
- Interacting with other company supervisors, inspectors and clients.
- Ensuring performance accountability and utilize our infraction procedures when required.
- Managing disciplinary actions.
- Identifying and reporting work that may be additional to the contract.
- Other tasks as required.
- PLANNING, SCHEDULING AND PRODUCTIVITY_

The Yard Foreman is accountable for following the project plans and schedules and ensuring that the crew’s daily and weekly activities meet production goals.
- Discussing and planning with Management the proposed work at hand.
- Ensuring proper handling of all materials and ensure proper and compliant storage.
- Monitoring the loading of materials to ensure safe and compliant transfers.
- Ordering, through Management Meetings, the proper equipment, materials and workforce for the following day’s activities.
- Promoting innovations with respect to techniques of execution.
- Maintaining assigned company vehicles and all assigned company equipment.
- Monitoring the use of materials, other supplies and safety equipment.
- Working with Management and the crew to overcome work challenges.
- Resolving and reporting any scheduling conflicts to Management.
- Maintaining neat, organized and clean yard (housekeeping) and warehouses at all times.
- Providing Management with feedback and recommendations.
- Other tasks as required.
- ADMINISTRATION_

The Yard Foreman is responsible for the reports as required by the employer.
- Completing all required paperwork as described under the safety portion.
- Completing any required daily project reports with all the information and ensuring that all operations are correctly captured.
- Capturing and recording all costs associated with the various operations.
- Maintaining a diary or daily log.
- Completing incident investigations and SCAT reviews.
- Writing up disciplinary action reports.
- Completing of all MECP or client paperwork as required.
- Other Tasks as required.
- QUALITY CONTROL_

The Yard Foreman is accountable for ensuring that the materials stored and processed adhere to the site’s ECA and D&O Requirements.
- Having the knowledge of the different QC codes and their proper storage and processing locations.
- Communicating with Management on where and how various wastes needs to be stored and processed.
- Overseeing the execution of the work including quality and production to minimize the deficiencies.
- Having the ability to follow plans and specifications.
- Inspecting the completed work and initiating timely resolutions if required.
- Completing a quarterly physical inventory of all waste as required.
- Other tasks as required.

**EXPERIENCE**
- Field experience in dealing with industrial waste operations.
- Dealing with environmental spills.
- Confined Space & Rescue.
- Basic awareness of Ontario Regulation 347 and the sites ECAs.
- Sound knowledge in TDGA.
- Customer service experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- NFPA 472 or HAZWOPER would be an asset.
