**ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE**

This role reports to Dr. Zahia Marzouk.

**SUMMARY**

The Research Assistant will work closely with Dr. Zahia Marzouk and Dr. Daniel Bernstein to develop a detailed proposal for the SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- General: Prepare and send agendas for meetings, take notes, and follow up on action items.
- Work with local grade schools:

- Identify key contacts at local schools, e.g., Surrey, Richmond, Delta, Langley, tri
- cities.
- Arrange meetings with school administrators, research team and KPU administrators.
- Prepare summaries and reports for meetings with potential school partners.
- Prepare and send agendas for meetings.
- Grant Proposal work:

- Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting a SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant proposal
- Identify and review relevant academic literature to support the grant proposal.
- Maintain records of all grant-related activities, ensuring that deadlines and submission requirements are met.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Prior experience working within or collaborating with local school districts (e.g., Surrey, Richmond, Delta, Langley) is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in academic or applied research, either through coursework or involvement in research projects, is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively liaise with school administrators, faculty, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including school district personnel and faculty.
- Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to assist in grant writing.
- **Salary Information**

Student Assistants are paid as per the following:

- Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) - BC Minimum Wage
- One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) - BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
- With a post-secondary diploma or degree - BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
