In preparation for the Spring season we are searching for a **Class 1 Truck Driver.**

**Position Overview**
As the **Class 1 Truck Driver** you will provide fleet operation services to all external customers. You will gain thorough knowledge of all Black Dirt Company products; and an exceptional understanding of fleet operations. We are looking for a team player who has full capabilities to operate truck & pup, truck & end dump, and tandem. Experience and the willingness to move/haul equipment, picker experience, and/or Moffatt experience will be considered an asset. Primary responsibilities include product retrieval from local gravel pits and company sites as well as delivery within Alberta to customers and contractors.

This is a Seasonal Hourly position which has positions available that will operate 6 days/week (Monday to Saturday) up to 10-hour days. As a seasonal business dependent on the weather the job is estimated to run until the end of Fall; work is not always guaranteed on rain days. One of the benefits of this position and working with the company is you are home every night.

This position has the opportunity to extend into the winter on an on-call, as needed basis, conducting snow haul outs at various sites around Spruce Grove and Stony Plain; and/or spreading gravel for Parkland County; and/or conducting clay hauls.

**Your Responsibilities**:

- Check for safety concerns on location (assess hazards)
- Perform route deliveries for customers or contractors
- Contact Mechanic and/or Truck Maintenance Manager for supplies and parts
- Maintain fleet cleanliness
- Maintain excellent driving habits
- Ensure fleet/equipment maintenance is performed
- Understand weight/volume and fleet capacities
- Maintain positive customer relations
- Conduct pre-mid-post Vehicle Inspection; correct minor deficiencies, report major deficiencies to Mechanic and/or Truck Maintenance Manager
- Ensure proper PPE compliance
- Conduct Truck Driver Site Assessment at each site to identify hazards and controls at the first site of the day or Snow Removal Site Assessments at each site (winter)
- Report Near Miss/Incidents; submit completed forms to Safety Manager
- Work with Safety Manager to correctly handle incident investigations, when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace (shop/wash bay and fleets) to minimize hazards; help correct or delegate any deficiencies
- Report to Truck Maintenance Manager and/or Safety Manager with driver noncompliance issues regarding company rules, policies and procedures

- Ability to remain calm in handling multiple customer delivery requests
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to assess customer need promptly and execute accordingly
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to handle Dispatcher prioritized deliveries and multiple tasks at any given time
- Self-motivated and enjoys a fast-paced work environment
- Great time management skills; available for seasonal long hours, a clear schedule to work all hours of the day, any day of the week and a strong work ethic. This position will require, although rare, potential holiday work

- 3-Year Commercial Driver’s Abstract prior to hiring is a requirement
