Veterans Advocacy Program Supervisor

The Mustard Seed is seeking a **Veterans Advocacy Program Supervisor**who would be responsible for managing the Veterans Advocacy Program.
The Veterans Advocacy Program Supervisor will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the implementation of The Mustard Seed’s Veterans Advocacy Program in Calgary and Edmonton. This position involves supervising a team of advocates and peer support workers dedicated to providing wraparound support to veterans experiencing poverty, homelessness, or housing instability. The Supervisor will ensure the delivery of high-quality services aimed at reducing homelessness among veterans and their families and increasing housing stability. This position may be based in Calgary with the expectation that the incumbent will routinely travel between the two cities to provide in-person supervision.

**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to veteran advocates and peer support workers.
- Conduct regular check-ins, team meetings, and performance evaluations to ensure the effective delivery of services.
- Offer coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
- Establish data collection methods to track service statistics, client feedback, and program impact.
- Gather and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with community partners, veteran-serving agencies, and other stakeholders to promote program awareness and receive referrals.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with organizations involved in veterans' services to ensure coordinated support delivery.
- Develop program implementation to ensure adherence to objectives and timelines.
- Identify challenges or barriers to service delivery and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Produce ongoing reports on program activities, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, case management activities, and service provision.
- Work with Health and Wellness Managers to develop, implement, and evaluate Health and Wellness policies as they pertain to the veterans advocacy program.
- Document client interactions, client referrals and client progress on the Client Care and Management system (CCMS), and the clinics’ electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Facilitate emergency interventions, as needed.
- Provide input into program evaluation upon request
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- A passion to be part of ending homelessness in Alberta.
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in healthcare administration, public health, social worker, occupational therapy, nursing, or a related field is required; masters degree in the related field is an asset.
- Previous experience and demonstrated success in supervising or managing teams.
- Previous experience in developing programs, establishing procedures and policies and building clientele.
- Minimum four years’ experience working with vulnerable populations and homelessness; experience with veterans an asset.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with clients; members of the multidisciplinary team, and community agencies.
- Knowledge of FOIP and HIA and ability to observe confidentiality standards.
- A self-starter with the ability to work in a cross-functional team & accomplish goals.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs); experience with Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS/ETO) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems an asset.
- Good organizational, time management skills and advocacy skills.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) including a clean driving abstract and access to a reliable vehicle and two million in liability insurance
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This position is a mixture between Health and Wellness Centre, various Mustard Seed sites and external agencies both in Calgary and Edmonton
- This position may entitle working and driving in extreme weather conditions. Being aware of the daily weather report is essential
- Lifting, travelling, sitting, standing, walking, driving personal vehicle or a company vehicle are required as part of this role
