Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Strategy & Performance, the Strategy & Performance Coordinator provides a wide range of support to the strategy, planning, project management and reporting functions of the department. The position is responsible for supporting the development of the corporate performance reporting system, enabling the corporate project management process (tools, monitoring, reporting), and providing internal administrative support to the Strategy & Performance team.
Core Accountabilities
- Perform a coordinating role for the County’s priority strategic projects for: supporting the project initiation process; assisting with the development of project management tools, forms and processes; compiling and managing project documentation (e.g., charters, close-out, etc.); coordinating the monthly project reporting process.
- For Strategy & Performance projects, develop and ensure adherence to work plans, liaise with internal and external partners and consultants, coordinate project activities and deliverables.
- Support the development, planning, and monitoring process for the corporate Strategic Plan and Service Plan. Support the annual service plan and budget process, and establish and steward the quarterly accountability reporting process (collect and interpret data from departments, and compile the report).
- Complete general administrative activities including but not limited to the drafting and proofreading of documents, assisting in the preparation of meetings and events, and maintaining accurate records and databases. Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with administrative staff to facilitate collaboration and retrieval of information. Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and exercise discretion when communicating cross departmentally.
- Provide basic executive assistance to the Director of Strategy and Performance as it pertains to calendar coordination and information management.
- Work with Communications & Engagement staff to implement communication strategies for corporate strategy and performance reporting and major projects.
- Work in accordance with the requirements established by the RVC Health and Safety Program and the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation and Code.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements
Post secondary education in a related field
Relevant coursework and/or practical experience (project management, strategic planning, business administration) would be valuable.
Minimum three years’ experience in municipal government
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professional conduct and is perceived as consistent, neutral, and objective in business activities.
- Strong people skills for fostering effective cross-departmental collaboration, promoting open communication, and building positive relationships with colleagues from diverse functional areas
- Proficient organization skills that allow for a high-level perspective while also maintaining an ability to transform over arching abstract concepts into practical, achievable tasks.
- Adept at managing tight timelines and seamlessly transitioning between tasks, ensuring consistent productivity and timely delivery of projects
- Capacity to effectively navigate fluctuating workloads, managing high-demand periods while also efficiently optimizing productivity during quieter phases.
- Demonstrates initiative and innovation to identify areas for improvement and implements appropriate changes as necessary.
- Promote a work environment that is productive, reliable, and efficient and is geared to service excellence by working collaboratively with coworkers, the public and external organizations and representatives.
- Above average written and oral communication skills including the ability to appropriately gauge the needs of the situation and adapt the communication style accordingly.
