Purpose: Provide support to the Category Team to ensure Private Brand products spanning across all Grocery categories are defined, built, maintained, and consistently offer outstanding value and quality that engage the Giant Tiger customer.
Role Specific Accountabilities
- Support the workflow of new product development and the update of existing products to align with Private Brand standards, competitive market benchmarks, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Support the process, cross functionally to execute new product development, ensuring products and projects are delivered on time and on strategy.
- Attend quarterly Product Planning sessions with Category Management, Global Sourcing, and Marketing and support strategic product objectives and support the build of a solid Product Development Plan.
- Coordinate the activities for successful product launch and promotional strategies, aligning cross functional activities that will drive customer engagement and the Brands value proposition.
- Communicate with Private Brand suppliers throughout the product development process to ensure technical product objectives and timelines are clearly defined, shared and achieved.
- Supports product and artwork label development by ensuring product briefs are accurate and complete. This also includes procuring samples for photography.
- Support the execution of product sensory tests to ensure products align with Private Brand standards.
Knowledge & Skills
Requirements/Qualifications
- Post-secondary education
- 0-3 years of relevant experience, ideally in a retailer/ manufacturer environment
- Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge and passion for the Giant Tiger Customer
- Strong sense of Business and Process Ownership
- Team player. Able to influence positively without direct authority
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products required
Assets
- Retail experience preferred
- Proficiency in French is an asset
- Lover of food
- A positive, key contributor to building a culture of engagement and business ownership
