**Job Title: OHIP Nurse ICM - Our House Supportive Recovery Centre**

**Job Type**: Permanent Part-time (20 hours/week) some shift work required

**About the Program**:
YWCA Prince Albert’s **Our House Supportive Recovery Centre** is home to three distinct programs serving specifically: Women in Crisis, individuals living with persistent mental health and addiction experiences, and people seeking haven while in pre and post in-patient substance abuse treatment.
All three programs have their own distinct space but operate in synch to create a community where people gain a sense of belonging and purpose.

The Our House Intensive Program (OHIP) is a new program which will provide 24-hour staff support on site in a single room style residence for up to 6 individuals living with mental health disorders. The goal of the program is to be a transition step to less intensive services that exist in the community. The program is geared for those individuals who are in an inpatient facility and are ready to transition into the community but still require a high degree of support. The program may also be used as an alternative to hospitalization for individuals living in the community, who are struggling with maintaining their psychiatric stability.

**Qualifications**:

- Education requirements include: Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing or

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing;
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered

Nurses Association (SRNA) or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association ofSaskatchewan (RPNAS);
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Psychosocial (Psychiatric)

Rehabilitation and Recovery-Oriented Practice;
- Understanding and awareness of First Nation culture;
- Must work effectively as a team member and model a pro-active approach, flexibility, tolerance, perseverance and competence in counselling, assessment, and crisis management situations;
- Proven leadership skills, excellent clinical expertise, and the ability to support and mentor staff;
- Excellent writing and verbal skills are required;
- Must possess a valid driver’s license;
- Must pass YWCA Security Clearance with a successful vulnerable sector and criminal background check;
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities may involve the following**:

- Provide on-call responsibilities as may be required;
- Provide recovery-oriented services as per caseload duties and responsibilities including assistance with skills of daily living; medication management; residents with cigarette plans, transportation; social, leisure and recreational activities; crisis intervention; counselling in the areas of problematic substance use and psychosocial rehabilitation; supportive family counselling; group work, and other direct client services;
- Organize and conduct case conferences;
- Conduct assessments regarding level of functioning, needs and individual goals;
- Develop Wellness Plans based on the assessments;
- Ensure that appropriate database information is gathered as per service benchmarks and outcomes;
- Assure appropriate records are completed and maintained such as contact notes, incident reports, statistics, and other reporting requirements;
- Attend shift change, staff meetings and planning meetings as required;
- Participate in staff training including in-service presentations, First

Aid/CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, ASIST, Reality Therapy/Choice
Theory Certification, MH First Aid, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation
Certification and other training that may be required;
- Provide clinical expertise and consultation to team members in the areas of program development, assessments, nursing related issues and program evaluation;
- Provide orientation and direction to staff, volunteers, and peer support

- Keep current on relevant literature and research; attend conferences, training and other educational opportunities to keep current regarding changes in the field, best practice and evidence-based practice;
- Be willing and able to perform First Aid/CPR;
- Have knowledge of Mental Health First Aid and provide appropriate, professional responses to residents disclosing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, hallucinations, delusions or other symptoms;
