The Department, Division and its Strategy: The department of Health Services provides health protection, health promotion and illness prevention programs along with long term care services to build healthy communities in Peel. Paramedic Services' primary mission (Service Commitment) is to save lives, decrease suffering as well as to improve and promote community safety.

**The Team You Will Lead**:
Working in collaboration with the other Divisional Commanders, you will lead a team of Community Paramedics to perform their duties and responsibilities in accordance with the principle documents (collective agreement, deployment plan, standard operating procedures, policies and procedures, MOH standards, Base hospital and community paramedicine medical protocols), to ensure efficient system-wide performance that meets quality standards.

**What you will do in this role**:

- Reporting to the Deputy Chief, you will be responsible for managing and making decisions to ensure effective system-wide and community paramedic operations through the coordination of activities in the community and within a divisional reporting station and satellite stations structure
- Demonstrate to your colleagues and staff the importance of professionalism, competency and respect in the performance of your key duties that includes, coaching, assessing, and evaluating immediate reports as they utilize the principle documents to make decisions regarding day to day operations
- Provide clear direction to employees based on established policies, operational plans, procedures, the collective agreement, protocols and processes. By providing regular feedback, development opportunities and strategic direction, and encouraging staff's participation in key decision-making processes, you will ensure a high standard of performance
- Participating in and providing input on community paramedicine, operational and strategic matters to promote a high standard of service delivery across the system
- Communicate to your team relevant information in a timely manner to ensure the implementation of various activities as established by the Paramedic Leadership Team (PLT) in a manner that is understood and administered by all assigned staff.You will use your negotiation, mediation and judgment skills in order to contribute to the operation of Paramedic Services
- Set expectations with employees, monitor compliance, addresses performance limitations and acknowledge right effort and progress and will complete performance appraisals, establish annual performance objectives in alignment with the division goals and standards for employee performance
- Direct your staff to implement and adhere to the Collective Agreement, participate and make decisions within the grievance resolution process and contribute to the collective bargaining process
- As a senior representative for the division you will work in the best interest of the organization, to meet the division’s Service Commitment. You may be called upon to participate in large-scale projects, programs or events that require collaboration with internal partners, allied agencies and external stakeholders in the design, development and implementation of system-wide response plans with the focus on community paramedicine programs
- As required you will be responsible for maintaining critical and cooperative linkages with all Emergency Services, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and affiliated agencies
- Act as senior lead in the Incident Management System (IMS) for major incidents or disasters; obtaining necessary information to organize the IMS system, establish the command site, co-ordinate with other agencies, make strategic decisions and ensure tactical deployment of paramedic resources. In situations of emotional or situational pressure you will be able to demonstrate to the public, partners, stakeholders and allied agencies the ability of the Paramedic Services division to carry out its mandate to serve the residents and visitors of Peel Region
