Barista/server - Board Game Café

**About us**

Wizard’s Loft opened at the beginning of 2020. Although our retail operation has been in the Red Deer Nerd Community for close to 10 years.

Wizard’s Loft's main floor is the board game cafe, where customers can play tabletop games while they enjoy a beverage or some great food. Whether that is a café latte or a sleeve of local beer. Wizard’s Loft is an exciting entertainment center in Red Deer The upstairs sells all types of tabletop games such as Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, Pokémon, and of course, board games The venue hosts tournaments and events for these games. Creating a great community of gamers and coffee lovers.

**We are currently hiring for the following positions: Full-Time Barista**

This position is also very community-oriented. We have a large customer base that regularly visits as well as a growing group of new customers. Required tasks can vary from day to day based on need. This position can also lead to the opportunity to grow within the company.

The current job entails:

- Answering/helping customers in person.
- Serving non-alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages.
- Making our food selection and performing daily prep tasks.
- Managing seating and the arrangement of customers/events downstairs.
- Ensuring an attractive storefront layout to create an exceptional experience for all visitors.
- Performing transactions through our point of sale system
- Assist in running daily events
- Learning and maintaining a constantly changing knowledge base
- Standard cleaning of the business (Bathroom, Event Area, Counter, Fixtures, Floors)
- Knowledge of our food, beverage, and café selections
- Maintaining the Inventory of cafe goods, and receiving cafe shipments’
- Some retail closing duties may be shared at opening and closing.

**Job Requirements**:

- Enthusiastic about board games with knowledge of a variety of games
- Well-versed in board games and capable of introducing them to customers
- Must be 18+. (ProServe certification also required)
- Carry/lift up to 50lbs (up and down stairs as well)
- Morning/Evening/Weekend availability (10 am to 12 pm).
- Smart Phone (Company app required)
- Proficient in computer skills
- Able to work independently (with mínimal supervision) and take initiative
- Strong interpersonal skills for building customer relationships
- Experienced understanding of customer service, including maintaining store standards, cash handling, and merchandise presentation.
- An understanding of espresso and beer.
- Proficient in time management, adept at handling daily store tasks efficiently

**What are we looking for in a person?** We are looking for an outgoing individual who is personable, easy to talk to, and good at conveying information (Both internally and with customers). They are detail-oriented, organized, accountable, and assertive with a willingness to learn. Pride in the food/beverages they serve to customers and staff. A desire to improve their cafe skills and customer service.

Someone who may have creative ideas and is committed to the future growth of the business, as well as wanting to be involved in the community we have cultivated and maintained for years.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
