Part-time, Permanent

Work Hours: 7am - 7pm, Saturday, Sunday and Statutory Holidays

BCGEU Community Subsector, Grid 8

Reports to: Manager, Housing & Employment Services

Are you interested in joining our second-stage housing initiative? The Kinghaven Peardonville House Society (KPHS) second stage housing is an addiction recovery program (ARP) providing non-directive, client-centered, inclusive short-term housing programming to individuals participating in a substance use, wellness, and recovery program.

**About Bob Sutton Centre**:
Located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on a quiet road surrounded by other addiction support services, our facility offers 60 suites in a supportive, safe, and affordable housing program. For eighteen (18) months, the housing coordinator supports individuals to set goals and build skills, guided by the four (4) pillars of recovery: health, home, purpose, and community. We help individuals transition towards independent living and sustainable employment.

**Job Summary**:
The Support Worker fosters a warm, safe, and supportive environment for residents by engaging with housing participants, building rapport and goodwill, and overseeing the daily activities of the program. The position will work to enhance residents’ quality of life, maintain the goals of their case program, and ensure the orderly and safe operation of Bob Sutton Centre.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Monitor client duty assignments to ensure they are being completed as assigned and in accordance with client duty descriptions
- Arrange for pick up and transport of clients
- Monitor on-site meetings to provide aid to speakers, ensure clients are respectful and any visitors are off-site at the designated time
- Observes client behavior, investigates and handles disturbances, deals with client emergencies in accordance with guidelines, and reports incidents to appropriate staff or authorities
- Make entries to daily log book as required including logging rounds, disturbances, staff absences, and any other concerns
- When assigned, participates in social, recreational, employment, educational and other programs as appropriate to assist residents’ case plans
- Acts as a positive role model for residents, providing life skills training and behaviour management as appropriate
- Make rounds of buildings to ensure they are secure
- Performs light housekeeping duties ensuring a safe, clean and hygienic environment for all

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Able to work with mínimal supervision
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to work both cooperatively with a team and independently
- Perform physical activities that require the ability to bend, stretch, twist and reach your body, as well as lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Ability to prioritize tasks and client demands

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Minimum of Grade 12 education
- Previous experience as a Support Worker is required
- Certificate/Diploma in Human Services or Mental Health & Addictions, an asset
- First Aid & CPR Level C
- Valid BC driver’s license (Class 5)
- Thorough knowledge of addiction, concurrent disorders & related challenges
- Equivalent in training, education and experience will be considered

Pay: $25.54-$27.22 per hour
