**Summary/Objective**
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for effectively coordinating day-to-day logistics operations of the company. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring inbound logistics nationwide while adhering to importing regulations of Canada and USA for international shipments.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Supports the Logistics Manager with planning and scheduling inbound logistics for all the branches nationwide.
- Responsible for tracking all imports (fresh flowers, dry goods, machinery, among others ) and to communicate properly the status of the process to all departments involved.
- Acts as a liaison between freight forwarding, trucking companies, customs brokers, planning department, procurement department and branch managers to ensure timely acquisition and delivery of shipments.
- Creates, coordinates and completes shipments ensuring efficient utilization of company resources.
- Creates, organizes and oversees proper documentation ensuring shipping compliance with provincial, federal, and international regulations in Canada and USA.
- Verifies and troubleshoots any issues in shipping or customs documentation.
- Consolidates operational support and coordinates technical assistance in case a problem arises.
- Reviews schedule plans and process reports based on the findings to propose corrective actions ensure optimum functioning of operations.
- Collects and analyzes relevant information regarding performance metrics.
- Communicates with other teams within the company, as well as develop excellent relationships with external vendors to coordinate logistics details.
- Maintains summary of events to create logistics support projects and other shipment charts for records management.
**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree or post-secondary diploma in logistics, operations, business or related field with minimum 3 years’ work experience in logistics or supply chain management is required.
- Experience dealing with FTL and LTL shipments.
- Hands on experience troubleshooting logistics issues and finding efficient solutions.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience importing/transporting perishable products by air/sea/over-the-road.
- Advanced computer skills in Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
- Very strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, able to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate changes.
- High attention to detail with time management skills.
- Results-oriented and organized, focused on producing high quality work within tight timelines.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and high customer service focus.
- High energy team player, with a positive can-do attitude, flexible and adaptable to change.
**Supervisory Responsibility**
- This position has no direct reports.
**Work Environment**
Office environment with regular desk duties with exposure to:
- sitting at length;
- computer usage requiring manual dexterity for typing and visual concentration on screens.
**Expected Hours of Work**
- This is a regular full-time position with 40 hours of work in a week.
