Human Remains Transportation Specialist

Eastern Ontario Removal Services (EORS) has been serving the National Capital Region as the primary server to the funeral service industry since 2003. We are currently the largest and longest active service in Ottawa. Our modern, unmarked fleet boasts five removal vehicles professionally equipped and staffed with courteous, knowledgeable and helpful staff. We are well respected and enjoy a very successful working relationship with all funeral professionals, hospitals, and police services in Ottawa and beyond. EORS is seeking compassionate and professional individuals to join the team as a Human Remains Transportation Specialist.
Responsibilities include:
- Completing removals of decedents from hospitals, private residences, nursing/retirement homes etc.
- Use of company-owned professional vehicles to safely transport human remains
- Providing guidance and comfort to grieving families at the scene of a death;
- Filling out necessary funeral home intake paperwork;
- Communicating with funeral home staff, law enforcement officers, and company dispatchers to ensure efficiency throughout the shift.
**What does a typical day at EORS look like?**
Our transportation specialists work in pairs of two, and work for a 12 hour period on-call. When the company receives a request for a removal, a manager sends the call information to the pair, who attends the scene of the death. From there, the team conducts the removal of the decedent from the scene, and brings the decedent to the funeral home chosen by the family.
- A kind, presentable and professional demeanor;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- The ability to lift up to 100 lbs.; push/pull up to 250 lbs.;
- A passion for providing assistance to grieving families;
- The ability to work both indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather conditions; ability to work weekends and night shifts to accommodate business needs
- Good organization and time management skills;
- A valid G2 or G class drivers license;
- No criminal record (security clearance is required prior to the starting date, paid for by the company);
- French not required but is an asset.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
