We are searching for an Education Coordinator to join our Arborstone Enhanced Care team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity
- Plans and develops education, training programs and orientation programs for new staff, including preparation, facilitation and follow-up
- Evaluates programs; performs research on relevant topics, develops and/or revises modules and presentation materials as appropriate.
- Presents education sessions to groups and/or individuals as appropriate.
- Identifies training and staff development requirements by conducting needs assessments and by consulting with internal and external personnel.
- Evaluates competencies of CCA’s/LPNS/RNs as required for orientation and on an ongoing basis.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the training and development program and implements necessary modifications.
- Takes every precaution that is reasonable in the circumstances to ensure the health and safety of employees and all others in the workplace, including but not limited to, providing supervision, training, information, and equipment needed for employees to do their job safely.
- Contracts with outside consultants to provide specialized training and or to gain information an insight on best practices for the delivery of services.
- Networks with the greater health care community to ensure Shannex keeps abreast of new and growing opportunities within the division.
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
- Current registration with the provincial College of Registered Nurses;
- Minimum five years nursing experience
- CPR Certified and First Aid Certification is preferred
- Certification or diploma in Adult Education;
- Specialized courses such as: Foot Care, Palliative Care, Venipuncture;
- Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementia Care course completion;
- Previous supervisory / leadership experience in a health service or seniors living environment.
