**Job summary**

We’re searching for an ambitious professional to join our state-of-the-art breeding and genetics research facility as a **Manager, Cultivation** in Comox BC In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the goals of the Science & Innovation team are met through the management of propagation, cultivation, and plant health. From plant maintenance to cloning to pest control to irrigation; you will manage a robust cultivation portfolio and team to equip Aurora with the tools and techniques needed to push forward with our mission to _open the world to cannabis_. **As the Manager, Cultivation you will **
- Lead the cultivation portfolio and team to ensure high-performance and adequate plant health through scheduling, performance reviews and day to day transactional support
- Work with the Breeding and Genetics Team to support cannabis breeding goals including scheduling of research trials
- Liaise with the Occo Team to ensure genotypes are available to transfer to Aurora facilities, or external clients for trialing or other purposes
- Maintain and organize cannabis genotypes needed to support the breeding program including mother plant and breeding populations
- Communicate and escalate all issues with a crop or the production process to relevant parties
- Recommend, perform, and coordinate corrective actions for pest and pathogen control including the treatment, removal, isolation, or destruction of plants
- Coordinate with the Operations Team to ensure irrigation systems are running as intended (collect and interpret fertilizer concentrations)
- Represent Aurora Coast on the weekly cultivation team call, and other related cultivation activities to ensure improvement efforts are pushed forward
- Adhere to Aurora's SOPs and comply with Health Canada’s Cannabis Act, as well as relevant health and safety legislation and guidelines, and update policies or practices to ensure a hazard free workplace
- Establish, manage, and report on optimization projects

- Balance technical decisions around cultivation and plant care
- Lead a cultivation team made up of employees with a variety of skills, experience levels, and approaches in a respectful, fair, and supportive manner
- Collaborate with other employees, groups, and teams within the Science & Innovation Division and the overall Aurora Team
- Plan and strategize to improve cultivation systems at Aurora Coast that ensures healthy plants and maintains important genetic resources over the long term
- Use your experience, technical skills, and communication abilities to improve and share knowledge within the cultivation teams at Coast and other Aurora facilities
- Develop new skills in people management, cultivation, and plant science through informal and formal approaches to training
- Post-secondary education, such as a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or related field
- 5 + years of commercial greenhouse experience with plant propagation **_(we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)_**:

- Prior leadership experience managing a high-performing team of 5 - 15 professionals along with working knowledge of greenhouse climate control principles and systems (such as Priva)
- Proficiency with MS Office products including Outlook, Teams and Excel
