**Carpenter ~ Commercial Wooden Playground Elements**
Full Time, Burnaby Shop

Do you enjoy working with wood as a base material? Enjoy the smell of cedar? Have skills related to building products from wood?

**Position Overview**
- Work in a controlled shop environment with access to a plethora of hand and power tools.
- Reference shop plans, schematics and itemized orders to fabricate product.
- Work with yellow and red cedar timbers, boards and logs, as well as pressure treated boards and sheet goods to create product.
- Layout, cut, drill, process, and assemble product.
- Design and create jigs and templates to increase efficiency.
- Occasionally use counter-balance and walkie-style forklifts around the woodshop to complete various tasks (we have a full time forklift driver - training is provided before use).
- In-field (occasionally) - assist with the delivery, layout, and installation.
- Assist in the updating and enforcement of shop safety policies.
- Track tool and supply inventory, and update lists as needed.
- Assist with the arrangement and sorting of product and materials in the woodshop to maintain efficiency.

**Experience Requirements**
- Several years of experience in timber-frame construction is preferred, but several years of experience in any form of carpentry is welcome.
- Must have experience with reading schematics and/or shop-plans.
- Strong communication, inter-personal skills & a great work-ethic.
- Experience with operating forklifts and/or other machinery highly recommended.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Criminal record check (paid for by Habitat) & COVID vaccination mandatory.

Our office & shop is located at 3762 Napier Street in Burnaby (off of Boundary road in between First and Hastings).

**Our Hours**
Work hours are Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm.
OT opportunities typically available during the summer months
