**Purpose**:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Resources & Planning (MRP) and under the functional direction of the Graduate Program Director (GPD) of the School of Nursing (SoN), the Graduate Program Assistant (GPA) is responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support for the graduate program in Nursing (e.g., MScN, NP, PhD).
This position supports the GPD in the day-to-day administration of the graduate program. The incumbent provides efficient, effective, professional and prompt support to students in the graduate program from admissions to convocation and assists the GPD and faculty in ensuring compliance with the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) program, policies, procedures and regulations governing graduate study at York.
**Education**:
High School Diploma plus completion of some post-secondary courses in office administration/secretarial training.
**Experience**:
Minimum 3 years recent related experience including answering enquiries, maintaining accurate records, arranging meetings, providing administrative support, preparing and monitoring budgets, assisting professional executives. coordinating and scheduling administrative processes in an academic student service area, supporting academic programs, and committee support including minute taking. Knowledge and experience working with graduate program degree requirements, FGS regulations, policies and procedures, CUPE 3903 Unit 1 and 3 Collective Agreements. Knowledge of awards and scholarships would be an asset. Knowledge and understanding of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act regulations (FIPPA). Experience with updating web pages using WordPress (or similar software) is required.

Advanced MS Word. intermediate MS Excel. basic to intermediate MS Access
Electronic mail (e.g., Outlook)
Experience using an on-line student information system such as Student Information System (SIS) and other databases (e.g., Graduate Enrolment Module (GEM), Infomart, CUPE Hiring System and Academic Resource Management System (ARMS)
Knowledge of computerized file management and working knowledge of a large online computerized record system
Ability to prepare materials for presentation/publication and conduct internet searches
