Head Brewer

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Head Brewer who will lead and participate in all aspects of the brewing process, including brewing, fermentation, cellaring, and finishing, while taking ownership of administrative and organizational tasks. We seek a highly accountable individual who demonstrates initiative and forethought, ensuring that no detail is overlooked and every task is completed with a focus on quality and consistency.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Operate the brewhouse, producing batches from start to finish
- Manage filter and kegging operations
- Measure CO2/DO content at various production stages
- Manage yeast, including harvesting and pitching
- Ensure smooth brewhouse operations and coordinate with packaging and other departments
- Accurately complete and maintain all brewing-related logs from brew day through fermentation and finishing
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during every phase of brewing, fermentation, cleaning, and packaging
- Conduct sensory evaluation such as Diacetyl, 3-MBT, DMS to proactively detect potential brewing quality concerns
- Maintain a clean and organized brewing environment, with responsibility for cleaning schedules and projects
- Monitor raw material inventory and conduct weekly brewing ingredient and consumables checks
- Lead brewing projects, from planning and execution to completion
- Continuously improve consistency, organization, cleanliness, and efficiency, while proactively implementing and maintaining these improvements
- Be a champion of the brewery’s rules and policies, ensuring others follow suit through example and vigilance
- Assist in developing new recipes and improving existing ones
- Plan and brew pilot batches as needed
- Assist in other areas or departments where help is required
**REQUIREMENTS**
- Post-Secondary Education in a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a commercial production brewery
- In-depth knowledge of brewing processes, including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitation
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to foresee challenges and plan ahead
- Self-starter with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet programs
- Ability to multitask and work well as part of a team
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Capability to perform heavy physical work, such as climbing stairs, tanks, and pulling hoses
- Willingness to work in wet, hot, cold, and loud conditions
- Ability to safely work with potentially hazardous chemicals
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally up to 75 pounds
**About All or Nothing Brewhouse**:
Located in Oshawa, Ontario, All or Nothing Brewhouse operates from a 25,000 sq/ft ex-Beer Store building. Our brewery is built on the belief that the “customer experience comes first,” and our goal is to produce high-quality, session-able, and consistent beers that are approachable for everyone.
Pay: $65,000.00 per year
