**Main Purpose of Job**

Provide exceptional, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service to all customers in this versatile role. Maintain a clean and well-organized garden centre; including working as a team to ring up sales, restock displays, answer phones, and assist customers.

**Hours of Work**

Monday to Sunday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Process different forms of transactions; i.e., cash, debit/credit cards, and gift certificates, using the VMX POS system.
- Follow best work practices, policies, and procedures when handling any transaction to ensure customers are charged the correct prices and receive the correct change for their items, whether in person or over the phone.
- Ensures assigned product departments are stocked, labeled, clean, and well-merchandised.
- Provide services to customers/contractors by assisting them in locating products, directing them to appropriate areas, and/or to senior staff for additional assistance.
- Prepare products for sale. i.e., pricing, unpacking, assembling, and cleaning.
- Assist with housekeeping in store, warehouse, and storage areas.
- Answer phones and provide the appropriate information to customers in a timely manner.
- Assist customers with a selection of nursery cover materials such as mulch, stone, and soil.
- Provide a pleasant shopping environment for customers and contractors.
- Ability to adapt and prioritize multiple tasks and situations with effective time management skills.
- Proven ability to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Punctual, dependable, highly values honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, weekends, and some holidays as scheduled.
- Maintains proper personal image and care of company apparel.

**Qualifications**
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Previous knowledge of product merchandising techniques and strategies is an asset.
- Horticulture/Greenhouse experience is an asset.
- 17+ years of age.

**Working Conditions**

**Physical Requirements**

It is important that applicants have good physical stamina to endure long days of work outdoors. Applicants should be comfortable lifting 50+ lbs on a regular basis. They may be expected to lift various heavy objects such as plants, pots, home décor, outdoor furniture, or various gardening supplies throughout the workday. Applicants must be aware this job will require extended periods of standing and walking in steel-toe shoes. They should feel comfortable kneeling, crouching, going up and down on a ladder, etc. Please inform us of any hearing or visual impairments when interviewing.
