**Job Summary**:
The primary role of the Alimak (Mechanized) Raise Miner is to construct and maintain underground raise installations, performing various tasks such as constructing mechanized raise set ups, scaling loose rock, drilling, loading and blasting rock and ensuring that the drilling patterns follow the mining plans in safe manner. All work is to be completed following best practices set out in the Redpath Mechanized Raising Guidelines Manual.

**General**:

- Operate Mechanized Raise Climber
- Construct and maintain underground installations as face advances
- Perform tasks such as constructing MRC installations, scaling loose rock, drilling, installing MRC rails, installing services as required, loading and blasting rock, and ensuring that the drilling patterns follow the mining plans
- Read and interpret mine plans
- Install ground support
- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner

**Health and Safety**:

- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
- Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.

**Education**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core - Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
- Required Specialty Modules: U0064 (or other provincial equivalent)

**Work Experience**:

- 2 years or more experience with conventional mining methods and hand held drills
- 6 months as a Mechanized Raise Miner

- Ability to multi task and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with a partner and be a team player
- Recommended to complete the MRC training program
- Respectful of cultural differences
