Assistant Store Manager

The Nooks is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Store Manager to join our growing Niagara-On-The-Lake team As an assistant store manager you enjoy working with people and are passionate about creating memorable experiences for our team, our customers, and our Nookies. You will partner with the Store Manager and provide leadership in all aspects of day-to-day operations to ensure our high standard of customer service, store image and store operations are met. You will fully support and partner with Nookie’s to maximize their business and build lasting relationships.
The Nooks is the first Artisan Retail Business Incubator in Canada Our unique retail model combines in store space, a ‘nook’, with an online marketplace for handmade businesses to grow a successful retail business We give makers 100% of their sales in exchange for a monthly membership fee.
Responsibilities and Duties
Guest Experience
- Ensure our customers and Nookie’s have a positive and lasting impression of their experience
- Welcoming, engaging and connecting with our customers in-store, by phone and online
- Learning and educating about makers’ products and sharing your expertise with customers
- Assisting customers locate and select products by making customer specific suggestions to encourage product purchases
- Resolving issues effectively at store level in a timely and positive manner
- Processing point of sale transactions quickly and accurately
- Ensuring the store is visually appealing and contributes to company standards through product presentation, replenishment, store housekeeping, store maintenance and visual displays
- Take part in regular engagement with our nookies through our business and social app
Store Operations & Team Management
- Responsible for store opening/closing
- The ASM will assume responsibility for the store operation in the Store Manager’s absence
- Assumes leadership role with accountability for maximizing store business results by consistently creating exceptional Customer experiences
- Assists with store budget and expense tracking
- Assists with creating store schedule, when required
- Assign daily tasks and supervise retail Supervisors and Sales Associates
- Ensure effective zone coverage and breaks/schedules are maintained
- Coach and motivate your team to deliver great results
- Delegate store tasks and ensure compliance of store policies and procedures
- Providing coaching and accountability for Supervisors and team Sales Associates in order to achieve or exceed sales goals through effective customer service and product knowledge.
- Assist Store Manager in hiring, onboarding and training of store level staff
- Assist Store Manager in effectively managing employee turnover by maximizing retention through effective leadership, training and performance management.
- Staying current, understanding and communicates The Nooks policies as well as the wide range of services and events offered
- Protect the company’s assets and profits by ensuring loss prevention policies are respected by all team members in the store
- Understand and adhere to health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
- Perform work in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and laws or regulations
- Additional duties as assigned by management team
Retail Sales Skills And Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Knowledge of customer service principles aCnd processes
- 3+ years experience in sales, retail, or customer service environments
- 2+ years experience in a leadership position in sales, retail or customer service environment
- Experience in team leadership & facilitation of work
- Experience, and comfort using, a variety for computer software programs
- Interest in social media content creation as asset
