We're growing Urban Quarry is currently seeking a full-time **General Labourer. **The General
Labourer will be responsible for keeping the material stored in the yard organized. He or she will be tasked with cleaning and preparing worksites, removing items to be discarded, completing required paperwork in order to record inventory movements. The General
Labourer must be capable and adept at using a variety of equipment, including power and hand tools as well as operating a forklift.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools including a forklift.
- Place, consolidate, and protect case-in-place concrete or masonry structures.
- Keep a daily log of tasks.
- Respect and respond to direction given by lead-hand(s).
- Understand and comply with all Policies and Procedures.
- Clean and prepare the yard and shop to eliminate possible hazards.
- Perform demolition work and salvage useful materials.
- Ensure an adequate supply of material is available for preventative maintenance programs.
- Clean and prepare Shop to eliminate possible hazards.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**MUST HAVE**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Time management skills.
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
- Respect diversity - treat others with respect.
- Avoid unnecessary conflict.
- Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision.
- Collaborative in dealing with fellow employees.
- Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
- Make suggestions for improvement.

- Ability to communicate effectively with lead-hand, co-workers and customers.

**NICE TO HAVE**:

- 3-6 months of experience as a General labourer, or in equivalent construction related field, is desirable
- Forklift license.
- Currently working in the trade
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, and as-builds
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred.
- Bilingual (Fluent in English and French)

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Day shift availability.
- Exposure to extreme cold, heat and humidity.
- Job requires the ability to work with tools, stone and materials.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects is required.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. safety boots, etc.).
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.
- Hazards associated with the construction industry.
