The Business Systems Analyst position bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions by gathering and translating requirements into technical solutions that drive operational efficiency. The position will analyze existing systems, design improved workflows, and collaborate with developers to deliver software aligned with business needs. The Technical Business Systems Analyst will ensure clear communication with stakeholders and remain current on emerging technologies and best practices.. This is a permanent, full-time position.
**Duties include**:
- Act as a liaison between business units and IT teams to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with IT developers to design, develop, test, and implement software solutions that meet business needs.
- Analyze existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and technical documentation.
- Assist in designing system workflows, wireframes, and prototypes for business processes.
- Participate in software testing and quality assurance to ensure solutions meet business requirements and technical standards.
- Collaborate with IT project managers to support software implementation projects and upgrades.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, providing status updates and managing expectations.
- Stay up to date with best practices in software development, business analysis, and emerging technologies.
**Qualifications**:
- University degree or community college diploma from an accredited educational institution in Computer Science.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a technical business analyst, systems analyst, or software development role.
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development or system design
- Solid understanding of DevOps and software development methodologies (e.g. Agile)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Proficiency with modern technologies and tools such as SQL, APIs, enterprise software platforms, and reporting tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) is an asset
- Experience working in or with the utility industry is an asset
- Experience in software testing, quality assurance, or project management
- Familiarity with enterprise integration tools and middleware platforms
- Exposure to cloud-based technologies and SaaS platforms
