**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Victoria Hospice, patient safety is a priority, a responsibility shared by everyone, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety, and mitigate risk is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Clinical Director, Bereavement Services provides a variety of counselling services to address the bereavement needs of those registered with the service. Provides professional expertise and consultation on bereavement care as it relates to education, quality improvement and research. Provides orientation, day-to-day supervision and support for bereavement volunteers. Records appropriate client information and collects required program statistics. Maintains knowledge of and contributes to current theory and practice in Bereavement Care.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Master's degree in a counselling related field. Two (2) years recent experience in bereavement counselling or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current registration with a professional association.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Ability to deal effectively with others including families, colleagues and relevant outside agencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated computer skills (e. g. MS Office).
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development for self, including self-reflective practice.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills in grief and bereavement counselling, including complicated grief, risk assessment, family systems and appropriate therapies.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical supervision and excellence in practice.
