Through a partnership by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and the Manitoba Real Estate Association (MREA), The Manitoba Tipi Mitawa Inc. (MTM) program helps eligible First Nations families achieve the goal of home ownership, by guiding and supporting them through education, financial assistance, and ongoing wrap-around support.

MTM is a registered charity dedicated to relieving poverty by managing a home ownership program for First Nations families in Manitoba. We work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, financial institutions, and community organizations, to provide comprehensive support to our beneficiaries.

**About the Role**

The First Nations Home Ownership Program Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and compliance of Manitoba Tipi Mitawa as a registered charity. This position involves fundraising, sourcing and managing donations, managing corporate filings, adhering to financial assistance agreements, planning budgets, handling program inquiries, and providing meeting and administrative support to the MTM board of directors. The individual will also oversee the intake and management of the home ownership program regarding applicant intake and selection, education coordination, working with stakeholders (lending institution, funders, etc.) and ongoing support to applicants and homeowners.

Key Responsibilities:

- Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Charities Directorate compliance: Ensure adherence to CRA charitable rules, manage obligations of registration, and oversee fundraising activities.
- MTM Donation Management: Update the website, acknowledge donations, ensure timely tax receipts, and maintain donation records.
- MTM Corporate Filings: Handle annual returns and director information filings.
- MTM Financial Planning: Collaborate with the MREA chief financial officer to prepare the annual budget.
- MTM Board of Directors Support: Meeting planning and provision of regular program updates and advancement of strategic initiatives.
- MTM Home Ownership Program: Manage the RFP process, open and oversee program intake, house acquisitions, and coordinate financial literacy, home maintenance, and home purchase orientation training.
- MTM Ongoing Support: Track applicant progress, provide post-purchase guidance, and comply with any funders’ reporting requirements/audits.
- MREA: Provide comprehensive education for staff and association members on Indigenous Peoples’ history and rights. This includes covering the history and legacy of residential schools, the _United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples_, treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal-Crown relations. The role requires delivering skills-based training focused on intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.
- Project lead on association initiatives that advance progress on Call to Action #92 under the _Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action._
- MREA and MTM: Support the MREA advocacy team in advocating for First Nations housing rights in Manitoba, working to ensure equitable access to housing opportunities. Develop and maintain relationships with First Nations and other stakeholders to support and advance their housing needs and rights.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, not-for-profit management, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in not-for-profit administration or a similar role.
- Skills-based training focused on intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.
- Familiarity with CRA charitable guidelines and compliance.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
