Positive Living Niagara is a community-focused organization composed of passionate staff and volunteers. We are committed to providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals affected by or at risk of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted blood-borne infections (STBBIs). We are dedicated to fostering inclusivity, equity, and the meaningful involvement of those we serve.
We are looking for a **Project Coordinator** to lead our Prevention and Education efforts with the local agricultural worker community. This role focuses on building knowledge and capacity to prevent HIV and STBBIs by implementing evidence-based, culturally relevant strategies. The Project Coordinator will work to enhance awareness and adoption of risk reduction practices related to sexual health, while also providing education on navigating health and social services in the Niagara Region.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Recruit, train and support 2 Peer Champions each growing season, from among migrant farm workers in the Niagara Region
- Organize and facilitate outreach activities in urban and rural locations in Niagara
- Develop and facilitate culturally appropriate educational workshops
- Provide one-on-one assistance to migrant farm workers on service navigation and refer to appropriate health or social services
- Coordinate HIV/STBBI testing and warm referrals to allied health services
- Meet targets for project deliverables and maintain accurate statistical reporting for the Alliance and funders
- Network and develop partnerships and referral pathways with local organizations serving migrant farm workers
- Complete required reporting documentation
- Coordinate with Alliance members and community to participate in and assist in planning local health fairs, events and community forums as required.
- Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor
- Adhere to the Mission Statement, Policy, and Procedures of Positive Living Niagara and will represent Positive Living Niagara in a professional manner.
**Qualifications**:
- A university degree, college diploma and/or relevant lived experience
- Awareness and understanding of local health and social service systems
- Presentation skills
- Community education and outreach experience is an asset
- Must be comfortable talking about sexual health in a culturally appropriate manner, inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations (training provided)
- A valid “G” license and clear drivers abstract, with access to a reliable vehicle.
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check will be required upon offer.
- Demonstrated organizational and Leadership skills
- Written/oral and computer skills
- Public relations and Community development skills
- Data collection, recording and documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to show initiative and work independently
