**About the Opportunity**

Caressant Care is seeking an Activity Aide to join our accomplished team of professionals at our 60-bed long term care home in St. Thomas, Ontario.

The Activity Aide plans, organizes and conducts recreational and social activities to meet the identified interest of our Retirement Home residents.

**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Organizing social and recreational activities for our residents.
- Obtaining supplies as authorized.
- Maintaining appropriate records and reports.
- Maintaining a safe environment for activities.
- Establishing community relationships.
- Developing our volunteer pool.
- Creating an activity calendar with both facilitated and self directed activities.

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED**:

- Must have a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university OR must be enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field
- Self starter
- Team Player
- Friendly and outgoing
- Knowledge of elderly population, aging process and current trends in assisted living communities
- Computer literate (able to use MS Word, Excel and Internet)
- Punctual and Reliable

This is a casual position with possibility of additional hours through call-ins. Daytime hours with some evening and weekend shifts. Starting rate of pay is $18.76 per hour, with terms and conditions of employment per Collective Agreement.
