Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) at Mount Sinai Hospital is recognized in Canada as a reference centre of excellence for laboratory services. Our internationally acclaimed professional and technical expertise, combined with advanced technology platforms, has made PLM a global leader in providing quality laboratory services, education, and research. We offer a wide range of diagnostic support to hospitals, medical clinics, and healthcare professionals in the Greater Toronto Area, across Canada, and internationally. PLM performs a wide array of services, including blood tests and specialized tissue analysis.

**In this role you will**:

- Perform data entry of clinical, financial and/or administrative information
- Manipulate data into a variety of different reports
- Respond to internal and external inquiries in person, electronically or by telephone
- Sort and distribute communications when received e.g. mail, courier, and fax, etc.
- Responsible for the maintenance of equipment utilized or controlled locally
- Assist with library searches as requested
- File and document administration as required e.g. reports, blocks, slides, and invoices, etc.
- Accurately and promptly sorts, records and delivers materials
- Receive, document, and return consultation cases as per Standard Operating Procedures
- Access/retrieve assigned cases for professional rounds
- Communicate with clients to obtain information
- Arrange meetings, appointments, teleconferences and travel arrangements
- Process internal and external invoices
- Follow applicable written policies and procedures
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Job Requirements

**Job Requirements**:
Mandatory
- Successful completion of a Medical Secretary diploma from an accredited educational institution
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
- Minimum 40 w.p.m. keyboarding/data entry speed

Preferred
- Completion of anatomic medical terminology course
- Pathology reporting experience

- Excellent medical terminology skills
- Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a professional demeanor when dealing with the public and hospital staff
- Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and set priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player in a challenging and changing environment
- Advanced problem solving and time management skills with the ability to meet appropriate deadlines and ensure effective workflow
- Ability to maintain an efficient filing system for records
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
