**Location**:Bluewater District School Board Education Centre, Learning Services Student Support with travel throughout the Board as required.

**Salary**: $52,785.00 - $56,285.00 prorated by FTE and contract dates
**Position Summary**:The Communicative Disorders Assistant Hearing works in collaboration and consultation with Learning Services Student Support staff, including the teacher of students who are deaf/hard of hearing, speech-language pathologists, and the board contracted audiologist to support identified student needs throughout the Board.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Support the implementation of program goals and interventions determined in consultation with school-based and learning services staff including Speech Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Teacher Deaf and Hard of Hearing, System Special Education Instructional Lead Teacher, and the board contracted audiologist to meet the learning needs of students with a range of exceptionalities
- Support students with special education needs regarding the use of current assistive technology tools and programs
- Support students with the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices in consultation with Speech Language Pathologists
- Support students who are deaf and hard of hearing in the classroom as directed by teacher of deaf and hard of hearing and in consultation with Speech Language Pathologists as appropriate
- Provide feedback and monitoring regarding student progress related to modifications and accommodations as described in the IEP to applicable learning services and school-based staff members
- Problem solve and troubleshoot FM technology required by students
- Maintain specialized equipment inventory for FM systems
- Maintain confidential files by creating records that are clear, concise, accurate and prioritize privacy of student
- Support students with the acquisition of goals as described on the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
- Attend and participate in collaborative planning team meetings with school-based and learning services staff members
- Design and develop materials to support programming for students as directed
- Work in collaboration as a member of the learning services multi-disciplinary team
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Post-graduate Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) diploma or certificate with eligibility to register with Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada
- Additional training in hearing impairment and/or Learning Disabilities is preferred
**Assets**:
- Knowledge of specialized software to support students with special education needs
- Specific knowledge and experience with supporting assistive technologies including, but not limited to, Read & Write, Voice to Text, and Boardmaker
- Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices such as Proloquo2go, LAMP, and GoTalk
- Knowledge of FM systems and cochlear implants
- Knowledge of Applied Behavioural Analysis
- A thorough understanding of physiological and functional speech/language, communication, and hearing disorders
- A thorough understanding of, and experience working with, students who have special education needs, IEPs, and technology assisted learning
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience providing service virtually and in-person
- Excellent flexibility and time-management skills
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Above average interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed with strong problem-solving abilities
