Retail Sales Associate

P.S. Atlantic Limited is the franchisor and operating company for the Paint Shop, a network of close to 40 franchised and corporately owned paint and decorating stores operating throughout Atlantic Canada. We have an opening for a dedicated and highly motivated **Bilingual Retail Sales Associate & Decorator** to join our Dieppe store.

The Sales Associate/Decorator works closely with customers to determine their needs, answer their questions about our products and recommend the right solutions. This role also includes specialized training and/or experience specifically related to interior decorating to assess a client's decorating needs as it relates to the interior of a home or business.

The Sales Associate/Decorator can promptly resolve customer complaints and ensure maximum client satisfaction. To be successful as a Sales Associate/Decorator, you should stay up-to-date with product features and maintain our store’s visual appearance in high standards.

Ultimately, a top-notch Sales Associate/Decorator should be able to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store’s sales goals.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist all customers in a professional and timely manner.
- Offer colour matching expertise, paint product selection advice and tint and mix paint orders accordingly.
- Answer customer telephone calls promptly and in an appropriate manner per company guidelines.
- Assist customers with taking orders and explaining the features and benefits of the various window treatment options.
- Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers with all product lines and services offered.
- Determine a customer’s needs by asking questions and listening to the customer’s response.
- Give knowledgeable advice and assist customers in choosing the best products for their project.
- To actively participate in all provided training programs offered by the retail store.
- To maintain merchandising standards established by store managers and/or operational managers including window displays, sales floor displays, promotional displays, etc.
- To actively participate in store activities including unloading of trucks, stocking shelves, carrying merchandise out for customers, having the ability to lift a determined weight of merchandise and delivering paint when needed.
- Present a professional, neat appearance, maintain a good attendance record and arrive at work at the scheduled time.
- Participate in all daily store housekeeping responsibilities that include interior/exterior maintenance, product organization, etc.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures as outlined.
- Responsible for completing all other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Displaying effective customer service skills on an ongoing basis.
- Proven work experience as a Retail Sales associate, Interior Decorator, Sales representative or similar role.
- Specialized post-secondary training/certification or comparable experience as an Interior Decorator.
- Staying informed and up to date regarding market trends, colours and information relating to the various merchandise categories and product assortments available.
- Strong detail-oriented abilities and skills.
- Ability to negotiate in an effective way with customers.
- Having good organizational skills including the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Being highly motivated with a strong willingness to learn.
- Working knowledge of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
- Track record of over-achieving sales quota.
- Hands-on experience with Point of Sale transactions.
- Being able to manage your time efficiently and appropriately.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- This position involves a wide variety of tasks including bending, lifting and sitting. Individual must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Fluently bilingual in both french and english.

This is a representation of the responsibilities associated with the position of Retail Sales Associate & Decorator. However, other tasks do exist, and the Retail Sales Associate & Decorator will be responsible for performing all other duties as directed by management.
